Paul has everything he needs within reason. He is borderline top tier in this game. The only reason why knee struggled is because the opponent was amazing. Source: I'm a Paul main, occasionally reaching true tekken god in both Korea and the US. I have close to 10,000 matches under my account

@@Chris_Prime Paul's biggest weakness is the lack of mid range lows or safe poking tools from mid range (other than d1 which should only be used for finishing off your opponent). Everything else he is amazing. He has great punishes so as a beginner you really need to learn how to play defensive (and spam the hell out of qcb4 in mid range). As you get more advanced, people learn Paul's range for qcb4 and become much more defensive at that range. He really doesn't have much tools to approach in that instance so his go-to is qcf3. However, if the opponents learn this, they will either bait it out in mid range and block it, or they will use moves such as df2 or hopkicks as soon as they see you approaching. Your job as an advanced Paul is to #1 mix up the qcf3 with qcf3+4, and #2 ACT like you're going to approach but just stay still and punish the opponent when they whiff their hopkick etc. If you do this, opponents will be scared to use hopkick and you can approach much safer. If you get close, you can use powerful moves such as ss3 to mix up your opponent. Now if the opponent doesn't attack when you approach but DOES attack before you can do ss3, then next time just dash and do a slower qcb4 to CH them. This is the basis of Paul's mindgames.

@@jhpjhun Surprised you didn't mention qcb2 since it's such a powerful mid. You have qcb+4 as a quick high, homing poke to discourage stepping along with ub2. Knee also uses d1 a lot with Paul. Also if you can mask your qc animations, why not alternate between qcf and qcb 3? They look similar enough, one being -14 and the other having extensions which you can CH confirm.

@@UltimateBallaPOM qcb2 is a good tool but not really used for poking. It's a mixup tool. In other words, you can only use it if you dash close into the opponent or when opponent is at a frame disadvantage where SS is not a good option. There's no real reason to duck against Paul unless you want to duck his qcb4 or qcf3 at mid range. Therefore, qcb2 has no purpose as a poking tool in it of itself. The range is not great either so in advanced levels, the opponent's movement limits its use. A good poking tool is something like Law's b2, Julia's ff2, ewgf, Dragunov's iWR2, a bunch of WR3s, kazumi's ff2, Lidia's ff2, a bunch of AK's moves such as WD1 ff4 ffn2, Noctis ff1+2, Ling's ff3 db2 ff1+2 1+2, Lei's fn2,1 series, Alisa's d3 etc. Same thing goes for qcb3,2. I personally do use it when opportunity arises, but it is a CLOSE range tool unlike qcf3 which is a mid range tool. Paul's qcb4 has good range but to put it at best use you must use it at maximum range due to the speed which means that opponents could safely fuzzy duck at that distance or step back to evade it and punish. I did mention that this is one of his most powerful tools as his foundation though I fundamentally disagree that this can be characterized as a poke. It's a CH move that can be used as homing. Same thing goes for ub2 but it's a close range move. Fundamentally, Paul is a defensive character (super strong CH properties with great punishes) that can have devastating potential in extreme close range. The trick is to make your opponent feel like he's constantly being threatened by Paul trying to approach to that distance or getting chipped to death by qcf3 so that he makes the fatal mistake of whiffing a launcher.
