Crazy that insurance sends you home immediately after surgery. My 82 year old mom had both knees replaced at same time in 1997. She spent a week in hospital where PT was done with her two times a day, then she went to in-patient rehab for another 3 weeks with daily intensive PT. She always said those 4 weeks got her up on her feet and walking again. Patients need that intensive care and therapy. When she returned home, all her equipment such as walker, cane, potty chair, wheelchair had been delivered to her home by PT and was waiting for her. A physical therapist came to her home every day for 2 weeks. We do not receive this necessary care today because of out of control costs. I am trying hard to avoid TKR because the pain of recovery is so severe, and the journey back to normalcy is very long and very difficult, especially when you have family depending on you.

I had a hip replacement surgery joint. And I was in hospital for five days and I spent a week with the rehab center for the last time in 90 weeks of the week in half.
