Very helpful info! Replaced mine on my Sprinter. When it didn't fix fan issue, I replaced blower motor and wondered if I'd replaced a perfectly good resistor block. Thought about selling the old one but didn't want to if it was n.g. After watching your video I know the top resistor (?) fuse (?) diode (?) is blown. Into the trash it goes!

Thank you very much. Your info was spot on. Wish I had seen this before I spent $52.00 on a new one. I didn't even think to check the resistor before I bought a new one. Major brain fart. I had no power through all speeds on the motor. I troubleshot the circuit starting from fuses to motor. Had power to the motor so that meant fuses and relay were good. Hooked up a 12v motorcycle battery to the motor and that worked. Now either bad resistor or blower switch. This is when my brain farted. I knew that even if the resistor was bad I should at least be getting power on the highest speed setting and wasn't. But a small possibility it could still be the resistor so I gambled on replacement only because it was easier to replace than the switch. Oh well. We live, we fart, we learn. I snapped after watching your video and checked the old resistor. Sure enough, there was nothing wrong with it.

I like this video. Normally a common go to component on a VW audi group vehicle if you are only getting fan speed 4. Common on the Polo’s but worth checking the blower motor too guys, in case that is faulty and causing series resistor to fail. Good work!

Well if 1 and 4 not connect a first resistor was broken. Its possible to make new from wire (i'm not sure is it cooper wire wrapped in case or different it corroded like steel) but wrapped must be correct with diagram. 3 resistors for first gear, 2 for second and one for thirtd gear

MAN at 1:14 you checking this correct thats why whole 3 gears not work. 4 pin and 3 its first gear (3 series resistors one not working and no ohm for all 3). Next 4 and 2 pin its second gear (2 series resistors one last is broken not ohm). 4 and 1 pin its 3rd gear (one resistor and its broken because its used on all gears)

I have the problem where my AC only blows on 4, but not cold. Problem was intermittent. I'm okay with the only fan on high as long as it blows cold. I have 4 wires coming in brown, blue, black and yellow. Any way to bypass this part with some generic resistor that will last longer and have it on high and cold?

similar looking resistor. only blows on high, but turns off the cold light. I changed the resistor that looks just like yours but it burns up in 5 minutes when on low. I changed the motor and it keeps burning resistors at low speeds. I'd like to hard wire it even if it only works on high but still use my controls.. colors into my resistor are brown, blue, black, yellow.. into motor brown and orange.

mine is blowing at max on all 5 positions 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. I can not stop it. Isnit resiator or relais or selector (knob) ? What you think guys ?

Although, for me the one showing 0.0 was bad. And one with 1 . was good. Doesn't 0 resistance means closed circuit, fan constantly running? So shouldn't there always be an open circuit until it's necessary?

The circuit consists of 3 resistors and a thermal fuse. I check the individual resistances with an ohmmeter. One of them has a break.

Heater blower resistor is probably the most common fault on astras and corsas when it comes to the heaters only working on the maximum setting.

it depends of the model of the car. It's easy to check a thermal fuse. in my case the thermal fuse was ok, but the fault was inside the green resistor

First resistor was broken. Thats why 1 and 4 pin not connect throu fuse.

For 1J0819022A Rate of fuse 192˚C i see 192C on fuse it must be 192˚C. But here its broken one from 3 resistor for third gear. Its connect together series 3 resistors for first gear and not working 1 of 3. All 3 gear use these one resistor

They had issues with melting the plug and wiring harness so it's possible someone has replaced the wiring incorrectly

Thermal fuse 10A and I don't remember temperature (you asked in my another film). Sorry. About 150-210 ºC? Please CHECK in forum about cars. You can buy green unit with thermal fuse is not expensive.
