Hi Paul. Out of the tons of kali videos that I've seen, I like yours the best. I've trained in the Japanese arts since 1979. But I'm 60 now, and not as athletic as I once was, so a transition to Kali just makes sense. Thank you for doing what you do. Respectfully, Mark

This is perfect for my daily warm up. I like how you keep it simple enough for others to follow and perfect step by step rather than showing off and making it complicated, which I have seen on other videos. This one is my favorite series so far to build a routine.
@STBRetired14 жыл бұрын
I was a bit worried when I saw you starting out with big arm swings at the beginning. But, I guess they were just warm-ups for the shoulders cause later when you were actually doing the slashing movements I noticed you kept your elbows near the body. Better to take a cut to the arm than to the torso. Very informative video and great for a beginner like me to start practicing. Thanks.
@matt256752 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm not sure what the point of that is? Are they gonna let you warm up before a knife fight IRL?
@mr.potato37592 жыл бұрын
@@matt25675 it's like warming up in your cabin before a boxing match, gym session or something like that so you don't injure yourself. Irl fight you don't care about the risk of getting injured from not stretching as there is a higher risk from the opponent/attacker. And the point is, why take a risk of getting injured when there is no attacker and you have time to stretch?
@lizahquinn4985 Жыл бұрын
@@matt25675 Hey Genius, I like your humor, but seriously, you should stretch and warm up every day, before you leave your home. As my master told me, “Bad guys don’t wait for you too warm up, you have to do that on your own, every day”. Rule#1: Avoid danger- You warm up, you psych up, you emit energy and confidence, you less likely to be target of attack. Opportunistic criminals prefer easy targets. #2 If you get in a fight, you’ve already warmed up once, your joints are loose, it’s “Show Time”!! Go Gett’em Tiger! 🥷

Thanks for posting. I am a retired law enforcement officer, Obviously as a retired law enforcement officer, I do carry a gun (actually I carry 2 pistols) and I also carry a knife (Gerber Ghost Strike 100-300). As a law enforcement officer, I've been well trained in firearms as well as other various weapons (ASP. OC, Tazer, etc.) but never with a knife. In the extreme situation my primary firearm failed and was unable (or disarmed) from my back up firearm, I will resort to my knife. Again, NEVER trained to fight using a knife, I searched KZbin and found your video. I will practice your drills and continue to enjoy watching more of your videos. You have just become my personal on line video trainer. Thank you.
