I love this type of blade. Tough, sharp, can cut anything. They throw better than an axe and are more practical.

This is the first time in a long time that I've seen such a simple project from Koss. Nevertheless, this project is also interesting, more understandable for ordinary people who, so to speak, do not know much about knives. Sometimes you need to make such knives to relax your head from heavy projects)))

Can you imagine some blacksmith in the middle ages not having all these wonderful tools and machinery and then having some royal guard captain showing up one morning: "Hey man, King is going to war, I'm gonna need around 300 swords".

For the sharpening choil, just drill a hole before cutting the blank out on the band saw.

Dope AF results, @Koss-channel! It's a shame that it's not being sold in a high-end kitchenware catalog/retailer because some professional chef would snap that up in a heartbeat!!

Where did you get those machines (surface planers)...and that angle bevel jig for cutting edge?...wonderful work
@RovingPunster13 күн бұрын
Looks fabulous (+1) . . . but TBH im a bit skeptical of the down curving (knuckle buster?) handle, and the unnecessary full bolster that will increasingly interfere with maintenance sharpening over time. Bolsters are for stiffening stamped ribbon steel, not hand forged blades that can be given a proper distal taper and a back beveled edge. I'd have gone with a more ergonomic handle curvature and (at most) a half bolster that stops at least 1/4" behind the heel's edge.

It would take me 4-5 weeks to make that. I do most of my work by hand. I don’t have all the fancy tools…bet hey, we all start somewhere.

Angle grinder and drill are enough if you know how to use them well. It can take at most 2 days to make one like this.

What are you dipping the knife into to make it go black ?

This is a solution of ferric chloride in water, and it's also used for etching circuit boards.

Работа, как всегда, топ. Но не понятна идея ножа. Как для мачете, у него высокие спуски и тонкое сведение. Для кухонной работы не годится рукоять. Чоппер, но для чего?

That piece of leaf spring looks rusty. If you wire wheeled it first you might get a longer life out of your carbide inserts on your face cutter

I touch up my carbide cutters on a diamond wheel whenever they need it, so they last me a good while.
