Excellent skill level, dont know how many people watching can match it, l know l cant. I like improvised weapons, self defense is a second away. I was just going to do a Bamboo tripod for my Rifles, this will add another level. Thank you.

Love that Bevel Jig you made, it’s so simple but has a lot of nice little details to it like the extra screw towards he end of the jig so the already profiled blade doesn’t move or shift down.

Forgive my ignorance, I have a question. I notice in most metal working vids a spray is used, I assume to keep the heat down. What happens if you don't spray? Will the grinder catch fire? Or maybe the disc would melt? Just curious. Thanks all.

Depending on what the spray is it could be oil to help harden the blade as it heats up or just to keep it cool to avoid it getting too brittle from the heat of grinding

Back To Earth when working with high speed power tools, it’s actually smarter to not wear gloves. If your gloves catch on something like a belt sander or grinder, you may end up missing a finger or a hand as opposed to a minor scrape or a cut. Not saying that wearing gloves is dumb or wrong, just something to think about :)

I wondered how you made the grind at the tip. It seems you jumped over that part. As far as I can tell, you can´t use that contraption to keep the angle. So, how did you do it?

Normally yes, but in this case bevel is much shorter than the blade itself and is very thin which makes it possible. Otherwise you would get that awkward ecliptic type of bevel curve not matching the blade profile, if that's what you are thinking about

@@wisewarrior9222 yes it does. As long as the metal isn't over heated, the temper will stay. Koss always takes a lot of time to make sure he doesn't overheat it.

@@onlinekicker yeah, if you get pre heat treated metal it is fine as long as you don't get it to oxidize with the first straw color stage, think it's 400 degrees or so. He was cooling it with water throughout the whole video. Might not be as good as getting the knife blank professionally heat treated (or doing it yourself at that point) but I'm sure it would work fine.
