KNIFE MAKING- HOW TO MIX FERRIC CHLORIDE

Today I mixed up some Ferric Chloride.
I had an old knife I made a while ago that had about 20 layers. I etched it in the Ferric Chloride to bring out the pattern

I didn't have a glass tall enough to put a blade in, so I formed some some aluminum foil, added the blade, poured in the ferric chloride, and it let off fumes, and ate up the foil. Bad idea. But the blade looked nice. It must react to aluminum

Yeah I had trouble finding a large enough glass too. You could try making a tube from pvc, which is what I am going to try. Then you can make it the size you want

No I have never used it before. I'll have to look into that

@@ForgedEdge From what ive found on a blade forums post i think mixing 500grams of crystals(powder) to 1liter of water will give you a workable solution that you can the dilute to a strength you want to work with, I guess i will just experiment with some trial and error. I will continue to do some more research tho.
