He really likes his slow-motion things. Unlike other youtubers, you don't explain anything at all and assume we know it. I don't mind, i quite enjoy the change and think it's nice that you just get straight to making the knife, not explaining anything. Some very basic subtitles would be nice to indicate what's going on for less experienced people like myself, but it's not required and this is your channel.

Dear Steve, this is fabulous. It's your first video that I've seen, and I'm totally hooked. I've subscribed and henceforth I'll follow your admirable craftsmanship via your past videos. If that's how you did all your past knives, then you clearly have an innate Talent, which is demonstrated here in every step of your knife-making. To a highly trained, sensitive and observing person, as a trained Musician, for instance, who's always in search of that ethereal, "untouchable" Beauty (that really end up "touching" everyone's Heart), a real Craftsman is shown by the sum of all details along its "Process" - and here is evident how highly demanding and careful is your Self. Your search for the correct precision in all aspects, combined with an accurate eye for details and the overall high quality on the end-result is not only fabulous to see but, being you so young, is also a truly indication that you're fulfilling your Destiny in your choice of this craft. (In case you "don't believe in Destiny", then I'd love to read your explanation as to how, to make it short, none of Mozart's, Chaplin's or Michael Jordan's - to name but a few - contemporaries, and many coming from the exact place and training, never achieved their same level... ;) ) A final note: you didn't state which wood you've used here (it looks like Balsa to me), but the finishing look was splendid, and that end scene on the video, with the Kiridashi knife laying over a trunk of dead wood in a forest, is indeed a beautiful & poetic image. If by any chance you'd like to share it, I'd love to have a HR copy of that photo, and I strongly suggest that you start to take those photos from now on - whether to share with your subscribers here and/or use them on a future catalog, to prospective clients. Anyway, please accept my sincere congratulations for what you're doing - I'm sure you're on the right Road... Cheers!

When quenching would it not be better to align your liquid with North South and keep the blade aligned on that azimuth? Very nice Kiridashi
@soft37778 жыл бұрын
+William Dawson - Could you please enlighten me
@williamdawson33538 жыл бұрын
Just he way I learned when off N/S axis I've had blades bend. Many say old wives tale. I'm told as the metal molecules slow down in quenching they align in a directional pattern. No proof.
@soft37778 жыл бұрын
Hmmm.. makes sense. molecules are tiny magnets themselves, they may try to align with N/S axis. Thanx for sharing the knowledge
@Mr8bitaddict8 жыл бұрын
+Soft@♥ molecules cannot be tiny magnets as atoms are electrically neutral.

Yea that's a myth for sure but if it let's u sleep easy at night, quench in watever direction u want bro

not really my grand father has used a drill press for over 20 years and never needed a clamp for it as long as you hold it well you will be fine
@SamuelRobitaille8 жыл бұрын
Well its like putting a selt belt...my grand father never did but, statistically, you increase your safety by doing so. Your grand father just like mine have been really lucky for 20 yrs...until the day, he wished he used a clamp to hold it and lost a finger or two. Better be safe than lucky.

You know the pole that holds the drill machine up? Face the balde towards it and make sure your fingers are not in the way, so if it does grip and bite, it will hit the pole and immediately stop

Very interesting blade shape. I am wondering if this would make a good fighter. Considering making a test blade for fun so I can do some testing.
@semjonborzutzki99078 жыл бұрын
There are some fighting knifes with that bladeshape because the tip is perfect for stabing and the short blade is easyer to conceal and i love this shape expecialy for edc. But in a real knifefight a longer blade is better in my opinion. But yes you can use it quit well for fighting.
