For the record I now nothing about making knives and fitting handles except what I've seen on KZbin. What I have noticed and if you are so inclined I see many of the knife makes will form the handle at the bolster before attaching it to the knife to prevent them from scratching the blade while forming the handle. Use it don't use it. Just an observation. Great design and I enjoy watching you make them!
@BarbershopCustoms4 жыл бұрын
It's actually easy to avoid scratches if you pay attention and the way we do it guarantees a better fit, especially on a wood that likes to slightly deform if it's not oiled right after sanding :)

@BarbershopCustoms4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the solution is good till it works, we always reuse it a couple times. You can store it in the container that you cook it in, just make sure it's insulated. You can also use some stainless or plastic container

Show us how to do this when we don't have the $1000's of dollars to invest in all those tools! 🤪
@ryc3rz4 жыл бұрын
You could absolutely do it with an angle grinder and a 100 dollar harbour freight 1x30 belt sander.It would be a bit harder to do. You could also do it using a hacksaw and hand files along with a handmade filing jig. You will also need some sandpaper, epoxy resin to glue the handles, and about a 100 dollars worth of insulating firebricks with propane burners to heat treat the knife- if you will use a steel that's easy to heat treat (like 5160 or 8670)..... and practice. Quite a lot of practice to make it look that good. I'm just starting myself. It's a lot of fun.
