I bought a small cheap little video camera that came from China, with a memory card included. I found 5 videos on the memory card where someone might have been testing the camera or maybe they just turned on record by accident. They were carrying it around the factory and it looked like a normal factory in a small building.

@@billj5645 Hard to say. I'm pretty sure there is still slavework in China somewhere and who knows if "Made in China" isn't already something like "assembled in or shipped from China". They too go for even cheaper places to produce stuff. It's crazy too think about, that in those 10$ is still a profit for multiple parties involved including a transport around half the globe. A ton of decent steel to work with is down to a few cents it seems. So I work in Manufacturing and I think I know what happened here, why there were none in stock and why people should feel good going forward about the availabilty of this knife. Basically I think Walmart was trying to develop a crossbar lock knife in this basic shape and came up with two options. The first was the Stromtrooper one that is more in line with the Ozark Trail line. Very cheap, not a great steel, the kind of knife made for the regular person who is not a knife nerd. They also had an option to make a version with D2 steel that was twice as expensive and would be among the most expensive ozark trail knives they sell. They weren't sure if this was going to be a good idea, would a regular person spend twice as much on a knife that had a better steel? Would that matter? So they made a lot of the D2 knives and put them for sale to see what the market was like for this knife. It sold like crazy obviously. So they ramped up production to produce a ton of these for the holiday season (which was probably the release date they were shooting for since that is when the Stormtrooper came out). I expect after the holidays you will see these in stock way more at your local Walmart.

I think this is a 3 part "problem" really. Yes, influencers hyping up a product like this absolutely affects things, but we live in 2024 and this is an increasingly common occurence that both companies like Walmart and scalpers know of. So Walmart knows that this interest is passing and that ramping up production of them now will lose them alot of money down the line when the interest dies down and probably just plan to let the supply naturally catch up with the demand over time. Likewise, the scalpers use the sudden hype as a speculative investment and try to grab as many as they can while its still possible to sell them at higher prices. All this means is that if you want one of these and actually pay 10 bucks for it, you just have to wait until this sudden surge is over. And reality is that most people who couldnt get one now probably wont remember this knife in a year when they are commonly available again either.
@N2EWSRadioАй бұрын
I have two of the originals from last year. And I just bought 2 of the $5 white Ozark Trail knives. Yeah, they won't hold an edge like a $200 knife, but damn, I can buy another $5 or $10 knife if I lose one or can't sharpen it anymore. I bought them from Walmart online, not from eBay. I used to buy counterfeit bugouts. I'll never want to buy another counterfeit now. Ozark Trail has changed that game. I have the Pyrite Light and love it.

I just don’t get it. But then again, I never have. I tend to be very logical - for the most part - and am constantly doing cost-value-benefit analysis in my head. Most people do not. Which explains fads like this. Forget about the $40 eBay market buy this knife for $10 directly from Walmart online or at store doesn’t make sense for me. I would rather have one $20 Ganzo with better materials, heat treat, fit, finish, durability, etc, than two “wugouts” (affectionately nicknamed by fans: Walmart Dugout). It’s a cheap polymer, suspect D2 (specifically the heat treat), and a crossbar lock that is doomed to fail (the omega spring has to be made out of paper Mâché). I’m not even saying it’s not a good value at $10. I am saying a $20 Ganzo is a better value because it will generally last longer, will be more satisfying to carry and use, looks way better (i know, subjective, but come on), etc.

People: I would have NO idea this knife existed if it weren’t for KZbinrs like MaxLvLEDC. Also people: screw him for buying them to give away for free - he’s basically taking food off my table.

Can you people stop hoarding these knives?

Dont be taken advantage of, bought 10 of them for driving people to his resell stream, its not a $30 knife or $40 your comments are complaining about not getting a $10 knife. You also didn't suggest a single knife in the same price point my guy lol.

the Harbor Freight Gordon that is $10?? I literally started with that.

@@maxlvledconce again, moving the goal post. $10 readily available. There are 1500 harbour freights in the US, there are 5000 walmarts. Dont be disingenuous. The comments were upset about not finding it in ANY of their LOCAL walmarts. What you actually suggested was online and double the price. Theres a reason your comments are pissed and not all their fault brother.

I'll have to disagree with the making a profit on ebay just because "if you could you would". I hope most dont think this way. THE reason someone cant get it is because there are 100s of edc youtubers and another 100s of knife only youtubers and 100s of others who want to discuss good deals. So lol, if each of them hundreds of tubers are buying 10-20 every month each (on top of degenerates buying solely to profit or to gift for Christmas) then of course theyll be nowhere to be found. Retailers have gotta start stepping in to change something about these practices.

you would be taking advantage of those who don't have access to something through regular channels. you inflate the price significantly and also charge high shipping rates. kiss it
