@Lochlann134 жыл бұрын
I believe the inclusion of the snap closure in addition to the built in sheath retention is so that the sheath is qualified for securing the knife during parachuting. Not an expert, but I think to be jump rated, a sheath has to have two methods of retention.

@RaspK4 жыл бұрын
I suspect that the threading is not such a big deal; if I get things correctly, this is simply a threaded rod (I don't know the exact technical term for the material in question in English) that is threaded to that nub at the end of the tang (the little roundish thing seemingly cut out of it). If that is the case, that nub is actually meant to provide tension against the tang, and all of these parts are relatively easy to fix and repair with minimal cost and effort, which might be what they were going for.

They did that because when you strip the bolt from cleaning it, you have nothing to replace it with. I get where you are coming from. Fox uses pommel ends with the bolt integral which is cool because you can simply change the balance using alternative threaded tips but... If you fuck up the interior thread you have no way to fix it easily except grinding it out to a new larger thread. So I can see why they did it like that. Good test man. Just ordered one of these.

I know they claimed that they updated it, if they are sending Skall the knife I trust that they did update it, but I can't help but feel that us people who don't have an audience would get the defective ones. I mean how else do they get rid of the defective blades
@Neeverseen4 жыл бұрын
Not an issue, just don't use your knife as pickaxe. I have a cheap Ganzo with a gheoot version of this handle assembly. The screw is thinner and badly spot welded to the tang. I baton and chop away without a second thought and the screw is not damaged, the cap really just keeps the handle from slipping off the tang and the screw is not stressed as long as you use the knife end of the knife.
@Surago4 жыл бұрын
I’m sure it’s been said but lengthening the stock a little and adding bolt on handle slabs would of improved this drastically. Hell, leave it the rubber slide on handle but make it bolt on through the tang. Jeez.
