Knife Wielding Psycho Trapped in Basement Until Officers Arrive
on 1/23/2024 Officers with the des Moines Police Department Responded to a call about 2 sisters in a verbal argument that turned south after one sister pulls a knife out. The sister and her friend trapped the woman with the knife in the basement until officers arrived.

Absolutely agreed. She blames everything on everyone else. She wouldn’t be so confident this behavior would work on officers and her sister in particular if it hadn’t worked in the past. This gal’s been bullying and terrorizing her sister (and likely the rest of their family) for years. Most people will simply give in to this type of behavior because it’s better to suffer in silence than suffer the escalation they offer as punishment for noncompliance. She absolutely cannot stand being told she can’t have everything she wants. Also; this may come as a surprise, but almost everyone experiences anxiety when they have to deal with police. Almost everyone gets unhappy and apprehensive when they’re being arrested. “Having anxiety” doesn’t entitle a person to special treatment from officers (for example, “Just let me go home”), and it especially doesn’t excuse making repeated threats against everyone who doesn’t comply with demands.

It’s one thing to be genuinely delusional; to attack someone because you believe they’re an alien disguised as a loved one. When someone busts in uninvited and refuses to leave when told, that’s a good time to act. The point in that circumstance is not necessarily to punish the individual for bad behavior, but to introduce consequences for it; the more someone is shown there are no consequences for crossing boundaries, the more they’re going to do so. That’s exactly why we see people on these channels being arrested on their 8th DUI, or pulled in on warrants for their 14th offense. Their friends and families keep letting stuff slide or think it’s not “that bad”, the courts keep sending them home with little or no consequences, and they realize they essentially got away with it all. Why would someone suddenly develop impulse control all on their own if doing whatever they want keeps working?

That behavior has obviously worked on her family in the past. I’m sure they know it’s all theatrics, but many people will simply cave to that type of bullying or guilt trip. Some ppl are so dumb. The officers aren't asking if you felt threatened or scared to see how much of a badass you think you are. They're asking for the report that a DA and judge is going to read later to determine the severity of the case. If you say, "I wasn't scared" or " I can take 'em," etc., it often diminishes their punishment. And bc you didn't take it seriously, neither will they.

It’s the post George Floyd effect. Because he was yelling that when he died (ironically not actually from not being able to breathe, but because the cops were obstructing blood flow to his brain by the way they were physically restraining him), since then people use that line in some bizarre attempt to get “unarrested”/more lenient treatment/to decrease the amount of physical force used to restrain them/in hopes they’ll be able to sue at a later date/& for some bizarre reason I don’t actually understand since about 99% of people being arrested use that line these days, usually screaming it loudly over & over, proving they have an unobstructed airway & perfectly functioning lungs 🤷‍♀️
