As a long time part time knife maker my self I can say without doubt that the cost in material and time difference between a 3.5in fixed blade and a 2.5 inch fixed blade is basically nonexistent and if anything the 2.5in blade will be more fickle when grinding as it's easier to make mistakes. In folders the difference between making a 2 in folder and a 3.5in folder the material cost is basically the same the time investment is possibly more depending on the design and the milling time would be very similar. Half the same knife doesn't mean half the material investment and most importantly time investment that's just not the case the smaller knife is likely the one that will take longer to make as the smaller the knife then more inconsistencies and errors show up in machining and grinding as well as in the finishing. So the slight difference in material cost is offset by the increased time/attention to detail.

That Artisan Cutlery Io looks pretty cool. It was most likely done as a cost saving measure, but I'd prefer if it had internal lockbar relief. It really helps the aesthetic of frame locks that have an otherwise clean look on the lock side. That's just me being nitpicky though.

The Demko Nano shark is basically a smaller production version of the custom AD22. I haven’t handled the Nano Shark but the AD22 is great.

@@samueljlarson if you boil it down to nothing but materials then yeah maybe they are expensive but they really are great workhorse knives. Extremely well built with one of the strongest and most fidget friendly locks on the market with a perfect drop shut action. They just kinda check off all the boxes for more enthusiast knife collectors while also being extremely functional and durable. I use all of my knifes though. My AD22 is a user and not just a safe queen, just like all my knives.

Lots of people give gifts on both Xmas and New years, end of year releases are strictly about those new years gift sells. In the US plenty do xmas or new years or both and around the world new years when gifts are given for a huge number of cultures. That's exactly why companies do it.

Nano shark I would pay exactly maximum 20$ for this but not more. So if you would sell it for 21$ I wouldnt buy it. It looks like a nice little fidget toy but its to small to be considered a knife and obviously there is not much material. Its just a very small cute little object. Some 2 grams of metal, 3 grams of g10. For me that would be worth 20$ and I would be happy to pay 20$ for this. Obviously 2 hundred something is absolutely surreal for this little bitnof object there but a nice little thing👍
