I was just wondering, who are those a..holes that gave thumb down? The fact that woman into a knife making should an automatically be 2 thumbs up! great videos , subscribed. Liked the cleaver idea. Any thoughts on making a chefs knife?

Did you get bitten on the belt grinder? looked like some pretty gnarly ruts in your hand on the thumbnail. OUCH! I use Bactine pump spray to irrigate and tons of Neosporin when I get rubbed. Friction burns past the skin layers suck big time.

Thanks for the heads up on IFI. A little cheaper than my current supplier on the Screws and Spacers. Nice selection of material sheets. PS sorry about the gank mark on the hand. Heal swiftly!

Just subbed this morning and now I find this video in my feed... Nice! I've watched quite a few today, and can say I really like your knives, your style, and your smile :) I'm a knifemaker myself, and your acid etching video has really given me some ideas. I've been grinding on a dinky HF 1x30 for about a year, and now VERY anxiously waiting for my Pheer 454 that's on order to come in. I'll be checking out more of your videos to help me pass the time! :) Keep em coming!

Guys what thickness steel should I get to make a knife ?
@Lee_B_Futures
@Lee_B_Futures 7 жыл бұрын
Really that's up to you and your design really... common though is 1/16 through 1/4 inch. Before making a first knife I would recommend getting a design down on paper. That way you'll have a good idea of what you want and how you're gonna grind it.

Obaid 16195 if it's your very first knife start with 1/4. I have have found its a little for forging in your grind lines. Also when I started out I used a mild steel from any hardware store to get some practice in before I started on the real thing. Best of luck!!

Very cool knives, that 2nd one i really like. Is kirinite only a pain while drilling or is the whole process a pain?
@kailacumings
@kailacumings 7 жыл бұрын
its just a hard material to work with, you have to really be gentle with it. If you have the patience to work with it its definitely worth it though. Beautiful material and finishes up very nicely.

ty, for the response! I really like how kirinite looks but i am still super new at this so ill build some skill before trying it
@kailacumings
@kailacumings 7 жыл бұрын
its expensive too. Like i said, totally worth it but you need to be patient with it especially when you are first starting out, I cant even tell you how many times i went to drill my holes and cracked the whole handle. USA knifemakers (i believe) sell boxes of end up handle material. Its like 60$ for a box but when i first started out i used to buy those so i could try out all the different handle materials and see which ones i liked best and also if i messed up on some or didnt like how they were i wasnt wasting a shit ton of money either ya know. Check that out though so you can get a feel for some different stuff :) and good luck!!
