WhT kind of steel is this and what kind of Rockwell hardness can you get it to?

This is a mystery steel my friend. It did come out hard but don't have any devices to measure the HRC yet. I may buy those Japanese files to test my future projects

I used the same material to make a kitchen knife. But I gotta tell you after tempering, it was a pain in the ass to make it sharp. Very nice job man.

Thanks, Lucas! I don't now, I had no problem sharpening it.

@@Drunken_Frog_40000 some of the older saw blades are really good to make knifes. But my favorite is plow disc steel! Man those knifes will last you a lifetime.

Nice job! Really liked the result. The handle was on the thicker side and being a guy with big hands, I can appreciate that. And here I thought Ihad some questions but in reading the description, you handled all of them. Was very curious about the handle and sheath material. Enjoyed seeing some new products (new to me) and how you used them. Keep up the great work!

The edge retention will like a six cuts and gone :D. These 'knifemakers' are a joke to real craftsmans. What about to find out some information about steel first? No? If the saw blade has welded teeth, the body of the blade is junk steel about 0,3% C and can't be used for a good knife.
@Take_And_Make3 жыл бұрын
I did my test, this steel isn’t superb of course but holds an edge waaaaay more than 6 times! Refer to this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZbEmWuCp5priLM

What's the point of tool steel body when the carbide teeth are welded??? Think about it for a moment or better, read something about it. BTW I'm metallurgical specialist. You are just lucky people don't know such stuff usually.
