I’ve been collecting Spydercos for 20 years. I get annoyed and a little defensive when people say they’re ugly. They’re meant to be held and cut things, not look pretty. Once you use them and realize the genius of their designs, they become some of the most beautiful tools on earth.

I always thought the spidey hole was a bit daft and a weak spot. But, then I got a really great deal on a Dragonfly lockback. It's not easy to flick open, but it's SUCH a nice little 5th pocket knife to hold and use. I still prefer flippers in a large knife, but I now appreciate Spyderco's design and understand the appeal 👍

I highly recommend trying a Paramilitary 2, the way you can flick those open with your middle finger and the ergos of the compression lock make for a different experience. Close to what you get with a button lock flipper in terms of fidgeting but much sturdier and more reliable.

I've been using Ladybugs for years at work. Having something to easily instably cleanly open up cardboard boxes at work is such a convenience I'll never give up They look cool too. I use a silver bracelet as a Keychain and fit it through the thumb hole
