Anyone else notice that they made a big deal about getting into the building. Got into it then, left the building. Drove to another building and turbo boosted into the second building. There's no reason he needed to go into the first building at all.

No. The point from where KITT jumped into the first building was beyond his turbo boosting limit. So he had to go all the way through the second building to get to that point.
