My all time favorite Turbo Boost. KITT was just so clean and sleek looking, together with the music buildup and the scanner being in clear view, KITT never looked better, especially in the air.

On a laptop, pause JUST before the landing, and go forward frame-by-frame by hitting the "." key. The "jump car" really had taken a beating upon landing! Yet it's barely noticeable when allowed to play through, and a great scene to watch. Long time Knight Rider fan since childhood, and happy to see this clip!

That narrow alley provided quite a close-quarters stunt location. Look how narrow that is in the shots before the turbo boost. The camera person that shot the landing was pressed against the wall very close to where the car landed and rolled by. They had room to back into the wall opening if the car came at them but that still would have been scary being that close to a flying car crashing into the ground and coming almost right at you. And the stunt driver did a great job keeping the car in the alley. Lastly the team did a great job landing the car without seeing it destroyed. The scanner even kept working! This was an amazing turbo boost. One of my favorites in the series! Convincing that a car could really do that

It's an amazing stunt. You can see the camera shake like the camera op was thinking about getting out of there. I'm looking to where the low angle camera is. I think it's hidden in the street almost where KITT lands.

Yes. At the time, the camera man by the fence didn't know if something would go wrong and the car would come straight at him so he was ready to duck back in the opening. Thankfully it went as planned and the car landed and went on by, but things could have gone wrong. Look how close the car passes by him. Yes the low angle was most likely an elmo crash cam. See how the quality is lower? And it appears to be about where KITT lands as you said because you can see the dirt pile, sign and equipment in front of it. I would pay money to see all the unsused cut footage from this stunt. .After the car landed the stunt driver would have had to nail the brakes to get it stopped before the dead end. These guys were masters of their craft. I wonder if the people that lived there watched from their 2nd story? Wouldn't that have been amazing to watch? Too bad video cameras were scarce back then and unlike today where everyone has a "camera" (phone) in their pocket with them

@@digitalmagicAR I didn't think about the crash cam. I guess it must've been a 16mm load? Yeah, true masters of the craft. The neighbors probably loved it or were jaded from seeing too many shows being filmed around town. If you pause the shot of the alley shot when KITT is at peak height, it's very epic.

@@GarretGrayCamera I don't remember what they used for the crash cams then (maybe 16mm at 96 or 120fps) but the Dukes of Hazzard often used them also for similar ground shots. Have to find an "old timer" that worked back then and ask. Yeah the shot of KITT way up is epic indeed. We were spoiled back from about 1980-1986 seeing big time stunts every week on TV. It will never be like that again. I wonder if the people in and around LA thought it was cool, or got used to it since it was not uncommon to see General Lees or KITTs being hauled around, or even have a shoot happen nearby...or a street shutdown while they did shoots. I would have thought it was the coolest thing but some people might have disliked the "inconvenience"

I'm in it now but there's something about back then and using film and doing real stunts like this they'd never do today. I've always heard people in LA were fed up with shows being shot and slowing things down. As a kid, I wouldn't went crazy if I saw KITT or the General Lee out on the street.

Mistakes like that happen a lot in Knight Rider. For instance, as KITT makes that turn off at 0:16, you can see hands on the steering wheel through the T-top when KITT's supposed to be on auto cruise. Can't tell whether that was one of the blind drive cars or if they thought they could get away with the driver's actually sitting in the seat as the windows are tinted.

I can't say for sure, but it looks like he first emptied the clip by shooting at the car, with no visible damage. Still, it could be a problem. I'd imagine KITT's processor should be shielded, and not within shooting range, even from the inside, but still, there could be loss of some of the functionality. The question, assuming that it is a normal car, but armored. If the bullets didn't do anything to the car and he's an enemy, why would he open the door being threatened by a gun, if he has nothing to fear? Michael's state of mental confusion is noticeable.
