Actually it is not underrated. It is very popular and well known in Russia and ex-USSR. Bad ratings of soviet military machines are forced by USA and British media "experts".

4:26 The Yak displays quite close to a 90 degree second roll: Similar to a P-40... Me-109G is about 80, and the P-51D around 60-70, probably 60 with ammo. The P-51B is closer to a 109G (at least to the right), but the P-51D was termed identical at all speeds (by the AFDU) to the Me-109G with 20 mm underwing gondolas... The D was extra heavy on the roll, and this is relatively little known. The later Spitfire IXs were similar to the D, around 60, yet the clipped XVIs are raved about by some Warbird pilots: I suspect some of the wing guns are lightweight mockups, or they revised something on the XVI besides clipping the wings...

@@knightflightvideo If there is no motor Klimov M-105 (VK-105), you can use Hispano-Suiza 12Y, from which it had its origin
@chrisgoshey73883 жыл бұрын
@@MakhachSultanov I'm not sure how many HS 12Ys there are around but it would leave the replica Yaks underpowered as its hp output is almost 200 less than the Klimov was, while the Allison 1710s much more closely replicated the Klimov in its capabilities making for a much more authentic flying experience.

@vadimpm12904 жыл бұрын
There are a typical Yakovlev proportions of wings /tail/fuselage, cf Yak7b, Yak3. Especially the wing and tail are authentic, you may try to find some similarities with three Anglo-Saxon fighters you have mentioned, of course if you can😄😄.
@WZW19823 жыл бұрын
I don't really see it. Wings, elevators, tail and canopy all look uniquely 'yak' to me.
i think soviet aircraft were overall better than german ones at that time everyone talks about how great spitfire was or how good bf-109 was but yak and lagg series was if not better it was as good as those but the pilots were kind of dumb and not educated well enough(well blame your uncle stalin) on the other hand german pilots were elite and knew what they were handling
@Scoobarruu Жыл бұрын
The major downsides of Soviet aircraft, specifically the Yak, tend to be weaker armament (low ammo), poor high altitude performance, and poor dive performance. If you turn fight German aircraft below about 5,000 meters and can land your shots, it was definitely superior to current German counterparts.
@danielcamacho19135 ай бұрын
Russian V12s lacked power, especially at high altitude, and pilots in Russian planes had to watch their speed in a dive or their wings might break off. For Yak pilots to be as successfully as they were I wonder if they retained energy better in turns compared to their German counterparts.
