Excellent channel and probably the best to learn. You provide a number of techniques as backup strategies one after one very easy and simple and no talk more and work less! In just 5 minutes you explain more than 5 basics loud and clear and simple and effective. I feel speechless whenever I see any of your videos. Oss!!

1:15 ... Mind. Blown. That’s going into my Rolodex. Quick story: the first time I got caught in an omoplata was by a blue belt student during technique review in Combatives. We went a little above and beyond, because I was trying escapes on him, mostly from arm locks. Anyway, my partner hits the omoplata slowly. My right hand is posted out, knees out in a wide base, and I tapped from trying to pull my arm out to save it. I confess I was frustrated for one obvious reason. My partner did throw me a bone and tell me the first way to take the edge off. After that, and well after class was done, I looked up omoplata escapes and reviewed one from Ricardo Cavalcante that served me well at least once. But that’s how I learn. I get caught and tap to a submission, then I go review content online to learn the escapes or how not to set myself up to get snapped or choked.

Great options, nice video. One I find quite a bit of success with is if I can posture up and stack them onto their shoulders(so this would be an earlier escape) I grab their far side foot with my free hand pass it over my head so my head is outside their far side hip and then I pass to the far side ending in side control.

ever since i was a WB i have always limp armed and done a hard sideways roll into a scramble, like if i was a kid rolling sideways down a hill,i think it works because in sport jits you expect an escape not some freestyle abnormality. I improve my position as in getting out of a sub bout it isn't some check mate move but that tuck under guard retention has made my day,i will now look slick instead of spaz child hill roll.

Hehe, thanks Knight one of the purple belts tried pulling this on me after finding out I was a Judoka, and I just rolled out, but now I know how to properly counter it😁

A hilarious a style points variation, the the person that is initially doing the lock, when they roll out of your omoplata is to forward roll yourself by sitting up and following them, and when you land they will almost always land right in your guard for a triangle. It doesn’t work once people expect it, but the first time you do it, very hilarious.
