Here is a way I have found helpful in explaining and illustrating some basic guard types to students. There are so many guards and ways to use them in Jiu-Jitsu that I can't even imagine how long a comprehensive list would take. But this video outlines some very common ones that I think practitioners should familiarize themselves with.
For more detailed instruction on the use of these and lots of other stuff, check out Patreon.com/KnightJiuJitsu. I really appreciate the support!

This is extremely helpful for us as white belts. Because we can grasp the overall picture and be introduced to the key concept of transitions between positions. I believe there is a room for drilling exercises, but isolated techniques teaching should be inserted in a context of a overall picture as you are showing us here. In this respect I like very much the teachings of draculinho, John Will, Chew jitsu, Kamajiu jitsu, Pritt Mikhelson, Wim Deputer, Chris Haüter, Matt Thomton, Fihras Zahibi, John Danaher, and so many more, who provide us with some context.

Eli, could you please make a video on how you tape your right hand please! I'm a blue belt and have had consistent knuckle / hand pain the the center on my right hand. I've tried to quasi-replicate what you have but still have yet to find a way that works. I really appreciate all your content on here as well as IG but would love to find a method that helped my hand issues. Thanks for all that you do man

Excuse my obliviousness but what does the blue bar on the black belt mean?
@KnightJiuJitsu

No worries. The blue bar denotes black belts under Royce Gracie or the Valente Brothers. They adopted the blue bar in place of the red a few years ago. I’m a first degree black belt under Royce.
