This is perfect I'd gone wrong on some thing I was knitting and as it turned out very square I've now rescued it from the scrap pile and just sewn this up as you've suggested and I'm over the moon on how it's turned out it was a really good deal on the chunky yarn last year in Hobbycraft UK buy two 100g balls get two free its variegated yarn with my favourite colours of mustard grey cream a friend now wants one so we're going to be purchasing her yarn next week and as I'm a member of the Hobbycraft club I will get a discount as they've sent me a discount code

Could I do to strands of 4 ply yarn instead of the bulky yarn? I would like to be able to combine two different colors, and obtain at tweed effect in the outcome. This is an awesome pattern, and so simple! Thank you! 👍

Thanks for this video which allows me to see just how the shrug I'm working on will look and then fit. I was afraid by following the number of cast on stitches this shrug wouldn't be quite big enough.

Thanks for watching Denise! I'm glad you found it helpful. You can look into making a gauge swatch next time to know what size your final piece will be. I don't have a video about this yet but I'm working on it!

The closest I could come in yarn was wool ease that suggests a 13 mm needle. So my question is do I use 13 or 15 mm?
@Hungarianne Жыл бұрын
Hi! If id like to do this from a lighter material, then i need different needles, and have different number of stitches and rows, right? Until the measurements of the square are okay, i guess. Im really a beginner, i want to do things right, but i dont want to make something this bulky right now.

Hi! I love this pattern and would love to make it for my grandma. The largest needles I have is US Size 15 (10 mm). Would they still work?
@TheSnugglery2 жыл бұрын
Absolutley! Since you have the absolute measurements for the square you'll need, all ya gotta do is make a swatch, then calculate how many stitches and rows you'll need for your gauge.

@TheSnugglery3 жыл бұрын
If your mom knows how to pick up stitches, she can pick up stitches along the curled edge and work a ribbing that does not curl
@akankshagupta18533 жыл бұрын
@@TheSnugglery thanks for replying actually there is size difference in both the sides left is more broad than right one- what should be done to ensure both sides are of same size.

I would recommend that you steam the rolled edges flat, or at least dampen the edges and lay flat to dry. Rolled edges are just a pet peeve of mine.

Hey, I don’t have the chunky wool, I have the kind for 4mm needle, could you give us peasants sizing for that please!
@marshafleming41654 жыл бұрын
Shreyashi V. You can double worsted weight yarn for the same result
@TheSnugglery4 жыл бұрын
The finished square measurements are written in the pattern for all the different sizes. If you figure out your yarns gauge, you can use it to calculate how many sts and rows you'll need to get the square size written in the pattern. If that sounds too complicated, I hope to do a very thorough gauge video soon! 😘 Thanks for watchin

can i use a straight needle instead of a circular knitting needle????
@TheSnugglery4 жыл бұрын
It might get a little crowded on a straight needle but you can cast on and see if you've got enough room for all your stitches.

ok thanks a bunch

Two things: on long tail cast on, I see you went under on second part of cast on (clockwise rather than counter clockwise)..I've always seen one go over in 2nd part of step...and it looks like you execute a different purl...never saw that method either!!!
