@@AshleyLillisKnits he actually picked "rust" in KC's "Alpaca" yarn! that yarn is slightly thinner than the LB thick-and-quick, and i wanted to make sure it would fit him well, so i casted on 46. it works great. :) i also finished mine last night using the recommended LB yarn but in "wheat". the subtle matching is soo cute. 😭

Really enjoyed knitting this hat but the fit was gigantic on me, and I don’t have a small head. 😂 I think I must knit more loosely than you because I used the same materials and measurements. I’m going to try again. Maybe cast on 38 stitches and try to knit more tightly?

I’m sorry it was big! I would check your gauge maybe. You could also go down a needle size to 9mm needles!

Ashley...Is the cast on of 40 stitches for an adult size? I measure 22 inches around. Trying to figure this out on my own but...so yours with 40 stitches is 18 inches around. There must be ease with that so wonder if I should just cast on the same as the pattern?

Yes, 40 stitches for an adult…. Hats typically have negative ease so they sit snug on your head but feel free to add stitches if you’d like - just add in multiples of two. This hat fits me fine and I have a big head - about 23” in circumference. It’s definitely more on the snug size though!
