BUNTING! Thanks everyone! I thought bunting was the kind that looks like a semicircle gathered in the middle, but it looks like it refers to both things. I also want to say thank you for all of the kind and encouraging comments. You've all been truly lovely to me, and I appreciate it immensely.

Bunting can be a whole bunch of decorative garlands. Any of the kinds that look like (and would once have been) a bunch of swags, flags, or hanging pieces of fabric are bunting (named after the fabric itself).

24:35 for an extremely long cast-ons, I always use a crochet hook. I chain as many stitches as I need, and then with the knitting needle, I pick up stitches from the back ridge of the crochet chain. To get the edge more elastic, I choose a crochet hook of a slightly bigger size than the needles.

The only reason I wouldn’t mind using a pattern that wasn’t size inclusive is if it’s free. Because A: patterns take a lot of time and effort to create and grade and B: the pattern is free. If it gives me the size of the finished pattern, I can grade it myself. But if I’m paying $7.40 or $12 or particularly $20 for a PATTERN, the designer can pay to have it graded or spend the time to do it themselves. It would be like going to an event and being given a free t-shirt in the wrong size vs. supporting Lululemon when all their stores only had the smaller sizes (I could be making that up, but I feel like this scenario was a real thing). Even if I fit in those clothes, I’m not going to shop there just on the principle.

@@13that1girl I completely agree. I do hold paid patterns to a higher standard, especially when pattern testers are expected to work for free.

Thanks! This is a gloss/stain by girlcult, but it doesn't say a shade name. I think it's J75. For 100% cotton, I like Lion brand pima cotton, and K&C essential cotton. I have a question for you, I see that you knit Continental style. I am a beginner and knit English style but I would like to try Continental, however I am a VERY tight knitter and I find it really hard with Continental to not yeet the stitch off the needles. IIRC you mentioned being a tight knitter too - any tips? Did you start with Continental? I'm also looking into flicker knitting. Honestly, all of it kind of sucks for a leftie.
@jacintheattic3 күн бұрын
@@IndigoSpades I have always knit continental, but for the past few months I've been working on loosening my stitches for pain reasons rather than actual knitting reasons 😅 I've found some improvement in adjusting how I tension the yarn. I used to do too much wrapping around, but now the yarn just gets pinched between my pinky and ring finger, and then draped over my pointer finger. It feels a bit slower, but I think it's worth it for me.
@IndigoSpadesКүн бұрын
@jacintheattic Thank you for the reply. I shan't give up yet as I am dealing with extra pain after knitting and crocheting as well. I think I can pick it up but they recommend not changing styles mid project so I have to pick something I am willing to go continental snail mode on and stick with it. Would be great if loosening helped with some of the maladies in the end. Skål Jac!
