Cables look complicated - they're actually pretty simple to create! The cabled scarf is Celtic Cabled Scarf, more info here: verypink.com/2...

As a knitter all crochet is magic to me 😭🫀 I’m still nowhere near cables yet but some hand warmers I’m just sorta pulling from nothing by is going good so that’s something lmao

As a new knitter who thought that cables seemed pretty intimidating, this makes them look super easy, barely an inconvenience. Thanks!

Omg. This is the most straightforward tutorial I've ever seen for cables??? I usually crochet but I've been getting into knitting, and this is probably the best crash course on cables ever

Thank you for taking the fear and mystery out of cables. I’m ready for a sock pattern with a nice cable. Thank you so much. You are helping me expand my horizons. I love your basic toe up pattern for socks. It was my first try at toe up. It is my go to pattern for toe up and tutorial is excellent. You have taught me so much. Thank you, thank you.

As a crocheter I would love to see this pattern crocheted up. I've never seen cables separated in any crochet tutorial/ pattern. Have a yarntastic beautiful day 🧶🩵🐸

My very first knitting project after learning to knit was a heavily cabled and textured sweater that was knit flat, bottom up, hand stitch assembled with a shawl collar and button panel knitted after assembly, which proved to be a wonderful experience, not just for learning by watching several knitting instructional videos on KZbin roughly 14 years ago, and it was an enjoyable process from beginning to end! Just don't allow yourself to be intimidated by what you don't know, because it is all very easy to learn and fun to do!

Funny because that's the exact scarf pattern I learned to cable on more than 10 years ago. I have no memory of where the pattern came from but it's still one of my favorite scarfs.

I love cabling! You are completely correct when saying at first I was completely intimidated about cabling. But once I realized the basic idea is going from (stitch #) 1 2 3 4 to 3 4 1 2. It was a lightbulb moment. 😍

I have tried knitting cables and it never looked quite right for me. I will have to watch your videos and see if I can figure out what I am doing wrong. I love Aaron sweaters, so learning how to do cables is essential to make one of those sweaters. Thanks for the video.

If you don’t have a cable needle you can use a toothpick because toothpicks are made out of wood wich helps the stitches stay on it and also they’re small so it’s easier to work around! :)

i stayed away from cables for a long time because they seemed so difficult. tried out a heart cable a few months ago and it was the easiest thing ever besides fighting to knit/purl the stitches on the cable needle sometimes XD

Just a note, if you are already crocheting, you don't have to go out and buy a cable needle to do this. Your crochet hooks will work too (just make sure they don't slide out). I've been knitting for a while now and i still use my hooks, or a double pointed needle, when doing cables.
@janeweller Жыл бұрын
Doing cables is easy, following the pattern and keeping on track with the amount of each stitch is the only hard thing when you want to knit something more than just basic cables.

My cables always end up with holes at the edges. I’ve tried to do very tight stitches but yours look nice and normal. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
@historianKelly4 ай бұрын
It sounds like a problem going back & forth between knit stitches & purl stitches, an issue with moving your yarn from back (for K sts) to front (for P sts) and back again when you're working off of your cable needle. That will cause holes if you have an extra yarn-over going to your stitches on your cable needle and/or back to your working needle.

16 inch circular needles that you have lying around also work great instead of cable needles (:

I hate cable needles so so much. I always just use an extra DPN. If you’re not holding too many stitches in the middle just use one it’ll frustrate you less

What about tension? Are we to do tight tension for the purl stitches before the knit stitches?

Not sure if you will see this question, but here goes. I was wondering if you can steek a double knit blanket? If so, how do you hide the the finished edges after securing the steek?
@verypinkknits11 ай бұрын
There are a million variables to that question, making it impossible to answer! I recommend visiting your local yarn shop with your knitting to let them see your blanket and help you in-person.
