Transform hanks or skeins into compact balls that sit nicely while you knit and crochet. Use the clamp to easily attach the ball winder onto a table to quickly and easily wind your ball into into a neat, center-pull ball. Best when used in tandem with a Yarn Swift. Ball winder holds approx 100 grams or 3.5 ounces of yarn.
"Note: The metal yarn guide arm comes folded against the ball winder for shipping. The guide arm needs to be moved and positioned opposite the winding handle for correct operation. Once put into position, the arm cannot be moved back."

If you tie a piece of contrasting yarn to the center pull yarn, if it gets pulled down in the middle you will be able to find it.

I just received my ball winder today. I don't have a swift. I usually would hand-wind a center pull ball from the standard skein, but this makes it so much better! I'm going to "convert" all my hard to a cake like this! ❤ I looked up the video because I didn't understand how to attach the table gripping foot - and this video made it perfectly clear. Unfortunately, I've been noticing a lot of crafty items that have little or no instructions. If not for you tube and all the helpful folks on here you couldn't use most items now days lol. It seems to me that some companies come up with some good products, but they fall short in the instructions department lol. Thanks to all the brave and patient souls who figure these brain busters out lol.

Too bad is not durable enough. I bought mine on May 2 just to start winding horrible 2 wks later. BTW I didn't used it a lot. I called you and you guys treated me very nice and told me you were going to send a new one. But I haven't received it. Someone at your company told me that the wheel inside must have disalign.

i need a ball winder for my wife after watching her wind multiple balls by hand. unfortunately ball winders seem to go from "too cheap and poorly made to own" (this one) to $130... with not much in the middle. i'd love to find a high quality plastic one for her that's made in Germany or Switzerland. ::sigh:: i hate the thought of buying this one from KnitPicks and having to disassemble it to stop that annoying squeak!! PS. GREAT eyebrows.

I had one of these plastic things from Knitpicks and it lasted a year and the cheap plastic where the gear is just broke off. I am awaiting delivery of a maple winder made in Cincinnati to arrive. It was about $120.00, but it is made here in the US and if any of the parts break they are reasonably priced and can be fixed at home. I wish I had seen the Jumbo Maple Ball winder first.

Even though it's more money than i was hoping to spend, after seeing their video... it's the one i will probably buy. CLEARLY these people have designed and engineered a high quality product... and i love their attitude about replacement parts. Thanks again to you AND Christine Rosenquist for responding..... BOTH of you made wonderful suggestions. After watching my wife wind several by hand... i knew something HAD to be done. lol. plus... i didn't tell this to my wife but i could see varying tension in the ball when she did it by hand which a ball winder will solve. I've seen pictures on Ravelry of people who clamp their ball winder and umbrella swift to a TV tray table, which can be folded up & stored in a closet with the gadgets still attached when not in use. (A card table won't work, because of the lip around the edge of the underside. I found that out the hard way, by breaking the C-clamp on another brand's jumbo-capacity yarn winder! :( )
