knit the herding cat socks by stone knits with me // my first time trying colorwork!!

hello beautiful people!! i hope everyone is having a lovely day, I am here to share my first time trying colorwork. Now, when you think of colorwork socks of course the first thing you think of is stone knits. Charlotte Stone recently put out a book that I believe has 25 plus patterns of exclusively colorwork sock (if you're looking for a gift for me mhm). I just knew i had to make one of her patterns for my first project, and then came the herding cat socks, I fell in love! So, come with me as I dive into the world of colorwork :)

When doing color work on socks, you can work them inside out to naturally loosen the floats when returned to normal. Love the cats!!

Silk is actually really strong and used as an alternative to nylon in some sock yarns 😉 The socks are so cute, I wanna make em!

idk why i didn't think of that, so true!! i may be switching to a wool/silk blend then because i want to buy the least amount of plastic that i can!

Hi there, I just came across this pattern a few hours ago and had to download it because I just adore cats! I've even ordered the yarn. Then I came across your channel! I think you made a good job of the socks given that you are fairly new to knitting and colour work. I hope mine will turn out just as good. Can't wait to start knitting. I used to knit a lot when my children were young but due to ill health I wasn't able to carry on and then got out of the habit. (My health is a lot better now!) So I've just started knitting again. For some reason I want to knit socks. Two pairs down and I'm raring to go. Mine aren't perfect neither but here's hoping they'll get better with practice. Keep up the good work! I am so impressed. Gorgeous socks! I was feeling badly today because my first pair of knitted socks have a few flaws. And then listening to you and laughing about the tails only on the sock --- gave me perspective! Thank you. Perfection is not the goal!

I am here for the cat content, especially 13:09 😹 I've been knitting for a year and haven't really mastered colorwork yet... the stitches are so tight that I've had to rip back and start over. Your stitches look really even and the colors are beautiful!
