I love this app been using it for the paste 5months. I'm a crocheted and this is perfect. I also use the paid android version on my phone. Awesome! This made my switching to digital easy.

Knit Companion is amazing! I recently got it and have yet to figure out all the wonderful things it is capable of doing. The hands-free option to change rows is a favourite feature for me. I also appreciate that no matter how long it’s been since I worked on a project, the app keeps track of where I stopped. There have been many times I have put a project down “for just awhile “, come back to it months later and can’t find the paper pattern or didn’t mark clearly where I was.

I was using Knit Tink as a row counter on my phone and wondered if there was a product like this that could show me the instructions per line. Then the whole 'what you're seeking is seeking you' magic happened and a video came up in my feed that mentioned it. I'm on the fence about the subscription fee.

I love that app but my iPad is old and my iPhone is small...does it matter if you have an old iPad to use this app on? I have a first generation and bought the app a while back when it first started. Anyway, I have loved several times and haven’t charged my iPad and was wondering if I needed to break it out to use again.

Yes, it's an awesome app! You probably will need the latest IOS, so a Gen 1 iPad might now work. :( I had a Gen 1 iPad mini and had to get a new one. I was able to find one refurbished on Apple's website for under $300!

Even if you only get the free version, it is still a great App and is very helpful. Your highlighter horizontal line and your vertical blue line stay exactly where you put them on each individual page AND in each project! {that’s nice!} Only problem I’ve found is I can’t watch KZbin podcasts and use Knit Companion at the same time...on the same devise...without jumping all around! #firstworldproblems 🤦🏻‍♀️ 😂 😂 😂 It’s the best, even the FREE version! I may upgrade someday 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve had this for ages, however since I now watch tv on my iPad while I’m knitting, I can’t use it as I have to pause the tv show, go to the KC read my pattern then go back to the tv app, it’s easier for me these days to use paper charts and a pen.

Absolutely! It isn’t limited to knitting patterns. You can transfer your crochet pattern from Ravelry or Dropbox as well.

Knitty Natty Wait... are you serious? I’ve never heard of that. I’ll go have a look, I’m not sure we have that in Canada! I bought my iPad mini about 3-4 years ago used from a friend, it’s a first gen. but it was in perfect condition, came with a nice case and was only 100$. It’s been great but since I can’t put Disney+ on it I might want a newer version. With COVID-19 I’ve lost my income so I don’t want to spend money in non-essentials. Fortunately I have the government emergency income so I’m ok 🙂

All my patterns are saved in Google Drive and I’ve never used drop box.

I’ve been using KC for a while - I have the paid version with setup. I never print patterns anymore because I carry my iPad for it - all my patterns are there. Dropbox is used to add projects that are not on Ravelry - put a PDF in Dropbox then add to KC. There is a group on Ravelry for KC - extremely responsive!

@@hilaryhamilton240 I don’t know what you are adding a picture to but I’m going to give you a couple of suggestions here. I don’t think you can add a picture directly in. If you are looking to add a picture for the pattern’s front page, you can copy a page with a picture then crop it so it is only the picture and move to the front so it appears in your listing of patterns - I have done this many times. If the front page has wording on it that makes the picture tiny, I copy it and crop so the picture is bigger. I have also taken pictures of patterns with my iPad’s note app (particularly helpful for patterns in books) - select the camera, then scan document. It will create a pdf you can save in Dropbox to then open in KC. Other than that, I use Word to import pictures then save it as a pdf for Dropbox so KC can import.
