I really like the idea of using an advent from a previous year to do advent knitting this year. I love the idea of working on a project throughout December but I think I am a bit like you that I want to see the full mix of colours before picking a project.

I really like the rotation idea. Sometimes, on weekends, I alternate between knitting and chores. I'll listen to a true crime podcast while I clean, then switch to watching a knitting podcast while I knit. I think it would be great to switch my wip each time I go back to knitting. By the end of the day, I will have accomplished a lot. I'm going to try it this weekend.

I did my first advent project using surprise minis last year and enjoyed it, but had already decided I’m just going to open them this year and use them later. I also got the Freckled Whimsy self striping and will do the stripe a day as my Advent project. (Thanks for the reminder to get those cuffs done!) Looking forward to Vlogamas!

I am so excited to have my first Advent this year. I like your idea about just opening up and not using the mini skeins in a certain order. Meanwhile I just want to relax, and do some simple Christmas gift knitting. Yes I should have started in July. I love how you plan and organize. I am an advent re-arranger. I also don't like winding yarn every day. I collect multiple advents to do throughout the year and when I'm ready to start a project I wind all the yarn, then put it in an order I like for whatever pattern I've selected. I want to make sure I pick the right pattern for the yarn so I end up with a project I'm happy with, vs getting part way into a project and deciding I don't like it for those colors or type of yarn. -- With the exception of something like Suburban Stitcher that comes with a pattern specific to the yarn and the order it's in, although I'll still wind all the yarn at once.

I'm glad you are realistic with you advents this year so many advent projects are difficult to keep up with. I'm a little disappointed you haven't knit your pink advent cardigan yet 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for the inspiration to organise my advent project now! I'll be making a Daft Days cardigan (by Rebecca Clow) out of a self-curated "advent" (therefore not a surprise). Now is the perfect time to swatch and choose a size ... I'm not expecting to finish knitting the cardi in December, but it will be nice to have made a good start 😀

I had fun opening and winding an advent set a few months before I was ready to cast on. I put the winded mini skeins back in their original packaging (with day labels). It's been long enough that I forgot what the yarns look like, so I'm having fun opening them all over again as I'm ready to knit the next part!

I’m doing 2 advent socks, self stripe and the 4 Sundays of advent sock sets. I need to get my cuffs knitted for my self stripe set. 😅
