Your red sweater is fantastic! It looks beautiful on you and your dark hair does indeed make a nice compliment to it. Knockers, Great charity project. I was also going to say that the floating stuff was from trees. Your mother in laws shawl is coming along splendidly, I've put that pattern in my queue. Stay cool! ☺😀

The fluff looks like poplar or cottonwood trees.

Beautiful red top. Very very beautiful. Looks great on you. For the socks do a cable ....pretty much knit something you enjoy and see if it works for your socks. The white flecks you see out your window reminds me of snow when I was a kid it snowed which is very rare. It started with flecks that looked almost like thin diamond shaped feathers then it snowed a bit afterwards but it is very rare and hasn't happened in a long time where I live in California, only a few time when I was a kid and it wasn't a lot either..😊

We get the flying cotton here in Oregon from cottonwood trees, it collects all over like snow

So it IS cotton!!! That was my only realistic answer for it, but something I'd never seen in Cairo

OMG so I'm just now watching this, and realize your Taiga shawl looks just like the Free Yourself shawl I shared with you on Ravelry. Sorry, feel free to ignore that! I didn't realize you were already working on one similar. 🙈

Haha I mentioned that in my reply to you! Great minds think alike, I suppose :)
