There is also a pivot point on right hand needle created by thumb and middle finger. The ring finger and pinky finger work to change the angle to catch the flicking yarn finger. 0:40

I put a straight needle under my right arm and that kneedle keeps still the left hand kneedle, with the stitches on is the only one moving and I flick the wool, if I knit when I'm traveling on a train I've had people comment on how fast I knit but it just comes natural to me I've been knitting since I was 5 and I'm 66 now

One difference, if you watch Very Pink Knits flicking video, she carries the yarn from the work up the back of her finger then forward and down to the working yarn. That helps you keep the yarn up near the tip of your finger more easily. That is the opposite of this video. Both method's work, but some may find one or the other easier to master!

Why don’t people show how you hold the dang yarn!?!? That’s the key!

You do not show how you hold the rest of the yarn in your right hand to keep the right tensions. The key part is missing.

If she is like me, the yarn just feeds itself through the palm of my hand. I do not use any wrapping of yarn around other fingers. My tension is solely guided by my pointer finger. I am able to keep perfect(!) tension with just that flick and then, perfect flow of yarn, without it getting tangled in other fingers. But that is only because my hands and dexterity are suited to that. Everyone is built differently and must discover what works best for them!

Dear, that's where I learned flicking after over 43 years continental style. I'm German but I wanted to be faster, specially in purling. Not to have to change the hand I knit with I learned this from Staci from Very Pink Knit, too, and I'm happy I did. Continental while flicking I do fair isle knitting. Then it's fine I first learned the other way. Be lessed!

This is how I knit and always have done. I was taught it by my mum. Interestingly the flicking method on Very Pink is slightly different - Stacey holds her working yarn so it goes the opposite way around the right forefinger - I can't knit like that for the life of me! Can't do Continental or Traditional English either. But yes this technique is fast and much easier on the hands - good for preventing RPS.

Love your sweater you are wearing. Been knitting a shawl for my best friend. Bought a pattern on Ravelry and the designer is Russian, that shawl ... so pretty. Could not follow the pattern. I like working charts but she did it all in LETTERS not symbols! Bought another after in between trying a free pattern, realized why it was free. Just bought a different pattern, this one is working really well with the fingering yarn. So you read Arabic? It looks so hard. But it you can learn that, I can see you have both patience and determination, as with your lovely sweater.

I have really tried doing this a few times but found my current project makes “learning” so much easier! I am just making a simple girls summer hat from worsted cotton yarn. I think my circular needles are a US7 So attempting this technique is much easier than other times I’ve tried this! It certainly DOES save time and is FUN! Thanks so much for making this video!😊

Hi Megan! Just want to let ya know I sure enjoy your podcasts for knitters. My favorite video is the one that you did on how you knit. I've almost mastered the way you do it, lol. I too, have watched the verypinkknits.com video on flicking. You both have been an inspiration to me....I want to ask you if you have done a video on how you pearl? I'd love to see you do one. Please keep up the great work with your videos. Love and hugs to you and your hubby on your endeavors in life from North Carolina. xoxoxo

Hi, what is mulberry yarn? All silk worms feed on mulberry leaves. I used to have them as a child as pets. Are there silk worms that feed on something else? Isn't all silk mulberry silk? Thanks.
@KnittersPartyPodcast5 жыл бұрын
From what I know, silk worms can eat any type of leaves, but Mulberry is their preferred. Mulberry can be expensive, so some silkworm farmers use other, cheaper leaves, but I think it affects the quality of the silk produced. I can't remember where I heard this so I could definitely be wrong. Mulberry is preferred though! <3
