Thanks for such a detailed review. No other reviews mentions clearly about the swivel on cables. So I got intrigued and bought a bunch of these cables from mindful set without buying actual needles because these cable are compatible with any knitter’s pride or knit picks needles! Wohooo!

Maybe it's me. First of I will start by saying, I was so excited when these came out. I love the idea of bringing a stainless cord to the KP line! I have these in fixed and IC and have found very little gliding action to come from these needles. In fact, I sometimes feel like wood needles will move faster. I am a metal needle knitter through and through and absolutely love Nickel plated needles like nova platina. They move so fast! I bought these expecting a similar experience and have only been saddened by my experience. I WILL SAY, the cords are phenomenal and I'm glad you can use them along with other KP tips, so that's what I have resorted to doing. I will try again, but I have turned back to the Mindful tips multiple times with no success.

Seems like KP decided to take what everyone loved about ChiaoGoo needles (sharp lace tips, stainless, cord) and make it their own. I like the look of it, but will just buy the cords for my lykke set as I already have the CG lace sets.

They seem similar to my Chiagoo red lace interchangeable needles. Is the swivel mechanism on the cord or the needle tip? I have a lot of other Knitters Pride needles and an thinking of getting just the cords from this mindful collections they will work with all the other Knitters Pride tips, knit picks tips and Lykke tips that I have. My favorites have been chiagoo due to the cord. I believe these mindful ones have a similar coated metal cord like the chiagoo.
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The swivel mechanism is on the cord, right where the cord meets the base of the metal connector that screws onto the needle tip. The other steel needle I showed in the video is Chiaogoo, and the cord is pretty similar, but the Knitter's Pride cord seems a little more pliable. The cords are available for individual purchase separate from the needle sets. I hope this helps!

I ordered the full 5” set and am less than thrilled with the swivel cables. They not only spin, (which is good), they slip in and out of the end and feel really sloppy. They don’t come all the way out, but that much movement at that spot is disconcerting while using them.

Hi 👋 I find your review very helpful and I love it... Can you please tell me if the points are sharp for a pusher... I don't like sharp needles and don't want to get my finger poked 😀.... Actually I am looking for a stainless set that's a little bit blunt... Can you recommend any
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. These needles do have sharper points. The sharper points are designed to make it easier to insert into a stitch without splitting, but they can poke you more if you push on the tips with your fingers. I haven't tried very many steel needles as of yet, so unfortunately I don't know of any steel needles that have more blunt tips. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help!

I honestly don't think comparing the lace tip knitter's pride to the regular tip Chiaogoo is a fair comparison. I would love to hear your comparison of both brand's lace tips side by side 👍

Loved your review...trying to decide if I want to purchased the kindness set of these needles...I already have the special zing set and wanted to know if you think there is alot of difference besides the swivel cords?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn Жыл бұрын
Hi Marybeth! I have not tried the aluminum Zing needles, but from looking at them online, it seems that they have paint on most of the needle, which could scratch off over time. They also have a regular tip, whereas the Mindful needles have a sharper lace tip. From my past experience with other brands of aluminum needles, aluminum needles tend to have more friction to them than the steel Mindful needles. I prefer the slick surface of stainless steel over the other aluminum needles I have tested. I hope this helps!

Since there aren't a lot of reviews out yet, can you confirm if the needle is flush with the cord at the join for the ic? I've read a couple of reviews that say they aren't, so they've experienced yarn snagging. Also, do the mindful cords work with your knitpicks needles? Thanks!
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The join from the metal part on the cable where it screws into the needle tip is flush and pretty smooth. I did not have any issues with snagging. The place where the teal cable meets the metal connector does not snag for me either. And yes, the cords from the Mindful needles fit my KnitPicks needles as well. I hope this helps!

I forgot to ask what needle tips and cord lengths are included in the set? Website says a range of sizes but doesn't indicate what is actually in the set.
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! There are actually several different sets available. The 5" interchangeable set includes the same needle sizes and accessories as the 4" Kindness Interchangeable set. The only difference is the lengths of the needle tips, one set has 5" needle tips, and the other has 4" needle tips. The description of the 5″ set that says 2.5 to 17 is a reference to how many sizes are available in the 5″ length tips, but the 5″ set includes the same sizes as the 4″ Kindness set (US Sizes 2.5 - 8). Those two are basically the same set, but what makes them different is the needle tip length. If you look at the Kindness Set, the details given in the description are the same as the 5" set, except for the length of the needle tips. I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, just let me know. :)

Hi Alexandra! I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps you could try checking some online yarn shops in the UK to see if they have them on their sites. These needles are pretty new, so it might take awhile for them to become more readily available in other shops. I hope this helps!

I'll just have to wait patiently! I love my ginger set, but swivel cables would be a game changer!

You said you prefer the cables over the chiaogoo’s? Are these regular plastic cables or are they coated braided wire cables as well? They r more flexible? I want steel cables that still have flexibility because i intend to do magic loop with them, i want to avoid smaller needles if possible.
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn Жыл бұрын
Yes, I do prefer the cables on these needles over the chiaogoo cables on the fixed circular that I tested from that brand. The Mindful Collection cables are made from nylon-coated steel, and are more pliable than the chiagoo cables.

Do the pride tips fit on the picks cords?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I tried attaching my Knit Picks tips to the Knitter's Pride cord, and they do fit, so the Knitter's Pride tips should also fit on the KnitPicks cords. After tightening with the cable key, they seem tight enough to stay on securely. However, I have not actually tried knitting a project with the tips / cables swapped. I think it would work just fine, but I have not tried knitting on them that way yet. I hope this helps!

Isn't the steel heavier in your hands? My cousin switched all her hooks to bamboo I don't know about the needles. I have liked the BATES silvalume quick silver needles aluminum circular. They are fixed but I remember noticing a real difference in the glide and feel when working with them. It has been a long time though. These steel ones look wonderful, but I worry about the weight and if they aren't Bates or Boye, they are probably out of my price range anyway.
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Maria! I think these steel needles are slicker than most aluminum needles. They don't seem to be heavy compared to the other needles I have used. The Mindful needles are a bit higher-priced than the Bates needles, but they also have more features. I hope this info is helpful!

This was very helpful. Would you say the price is fair?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christine! These needles have several features that set them above some of the lower-priced needles that I have tried, so I would say the price is pretty fair. One of the interchangeable sets, for example, costs about twice as much as the KnitPicks birch needles that I showed in the video, but includes a lovely fabric case. (The KnitPicks needles do not include a case, but they include a couple extra needle sizes.) I think it just depends on each person's budget and which features are most important to you. :)

So I bought the Gratitude collection.......was so excited to receive it then immediately so disappointed. The connections were rough and the yarn would catch every single time. I contacted the company I bought from and they said that it was a known quality issue with the Mindful interchangeables. It was suggested I try the Chiaogoo lace tip twist interchangeable needles as the quality was much better. They were so right: chiaogoo is MUCH better quality.
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn Жыл бұрын
Interesting. This is actually quite surprising to me, as I have never experienced any quality issues with the Mindful Collection needles. I feel that the surface of the Mindful needles is slicker than that of the Chiaogoo needle that I have, and that is one of the reasons that I preferred the Mindful needles. Were the connections rough on all of your needles? Or was it just certain sizes of the tips? Also, what company did you purchase from?

Have u tried the lykke coppers?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 4 ай бұрын
I have not tried those. I would be concerned about the untreated copper losing its smoothness over time as it develops a patina, and the durability of a metal that is going to oxidize. I don't have anything against untreated copper in other items, but in a knitting needle, I prefer a metal like stainless steel that will remain smooth and not need any maintenance to keep it that way. I hope this helps!
