Did I miss any? What are your favorite knitting needles?
@Pluviophile218 Жыл бұрын
I thought Addi was going to be the end all of knitting, so I invested in a set of Addi Rocket interchangeable needles and also Addi Lace. Well, I like the way they join to the cord, but I found out that I prefer wood or bamboo needles to metal. I have purchased Clover Bamboo, Knit Picks Sunburst and Lantern Moon sets and I LOVE all of them. For socks I like ChiaGoo and Hiya, Hiya, but one of them uses a very tiny socket to join the smallest sized (0 &1). I am not so fond of that. Believe it or not, I have a set of Denise plastic interchangeable needles that really work well with acrylic yarns.

Yes! Kollage metal squares beat all of these brand hands down, IMHO.

My local yarn store lady told me that Lykke, Knit Picks, and Knitter's Pride needle tips and cords are interchangeable with one another! I have found this helpful as I don't really love the Lykke cords much. 💜

Re: Addi Clic nickel plated circulars. My husband does a lot of intricate cable knitting and has had the tips and cords come loose on him. Very annoying trying to fix complicated stitches that have slid off the cord and dropped down. He either has to tink back a few rows or hand his work to me (if I’m in a good mood, lol). He also found his wools catching on the joins between cords and tips. He wished he had never bought them. He now prefers the Chiao Goo stainless steel circular needles and even really likes the 9 inch circulars for doing socks. Me, I tend to use Chiao Goo and KnitPicks needles most often, metal or wood depending on my project. Of all needles the cables for the Chiao Goo are the best.

I love knit picks needle. They have nickel, Aluminum metal, and stainless steel. They add the reflections about year or so ago. The nickel and reflections needle come in fix circular needle. They also have the cords for reflections stainless steel needle. My favorite is the rainbow wooden for cotton yarn, reflections for regular yarn like acrylic yarn when making hats. Here again I have a one of each needle in wood. However I don't have the new Foursquare Sunstruck wooden needle. One nickel and one reflections needle. I do mostly knit hat and washcloth with once awhile a knit blanket. Thanks for reviewing your needles.

A couple of adds - clover bamboo fixed circular is my go to for using with slippery yarn or with plant based fiber. The bamboo makes it easier on the joints. The cords actually fold up really well and I slide the end into the needle pocket. I think I just have fingering size because I haven't knitted any worsted weight plant based yarns. Ditto on hiya hiya and change small circumference for socks. I don't like the clover as much. Slightly too long but I do use them on sleeves. I have only tried knit picks interchangeable so far. I like that I can buy only the sizes I use and they have both lacquered wood or metal. I have always been told that lnitting needles are disposable so the cheapness doesnt bother me. Its also not a big deal if I can find some tips since it's inexpensive to replace. Only one cord has gotten a bend but it hasn't hindered anything other than looks. I like lace knitting so I suspect some pointy sets would be good to invest in.
@beepbopboop32214 ай бұрын
PS knit picks has try needle packs. It's size 6 lacquered wood and size 7 metal. They are the most used sizes, aparently.

Great video. I use my Chiagoo red heart grippers on all my interchangeables to tighten and I've never had a cable come loose. For wood needles, be mindful to use the gripper only on the metal base, or you might twist the wooden needle out of the base... that's how grippy the gripper is.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the different needles. I love Addi I have their interchangeable 5 inch and 3.5 inch sets, and several fixed in smaller sizes. For sleeves and socks I use the Addi 8, 9 or 12 inch needles. To avoid hand cramps I find relaxing and trusting the needles to hold the work as well as holding with 3 fingers and relaxing my ring and pinkie finger, which tend to want to clench without a needle in them.
@westmaven Жыл бұрын
Valerie I love this too I will have to try relaxing my fingers now that you mention it I’m sure intense up when I knit !

Before purchasing an interchangeable set, I found that I was purchasing mostly Addis and Hiya Hiyas because they were my favorites to use but the cords were atrocious. My only complaint with them is when using slippery yarns, my hands would fatigue. For my first interchangeable, I purchased Knit Pics because when using slippery yarns, my hands didn't get fatigued. I really like the Knit Pics and use them when using slippery yarns. Then, I purchased a fixed Chiaogoo needle and fell in love. I started purchasing more fixed Chiaogoos and once I could afford it, I purchased their Red Lace Interchangeable set. I absolutely love them. My one complaint is that on occasion, the cord does start to unscrew. Once I retighten the cord, then it doesn't happen again. I don't know if I didn't tighten it properly, the first time or if it is a problem with the connection.
@westmaven Жыл бұрын
Siggy that’s so interesting about the more slippery yarn’s causing hand fatigue I hadn’t thought of that before but now that you mention it, it makes sense! Do you find you get hand fatigue when using the Chiaogoo needles or do you think that they are grippy enough? Thank you for your comments 💕
@siggylev4268 Жыл бұрын
@@westmaven my hands do not get fatigued using Chaiogoo. Their metal tips aren’t as slick as the Addis or the Hiya Hiyas. The Chiaogoos do have some grippiness to them. Because of this, I very rarely use my Knit Pics.

I have the 4” set of Chiagoo red lace interchangeable set and I love them! The 4” tips are good for smaller sizes like 16” for hats and I haven’t had any adjustment issues with the 4” instead of 5” tips. The memory of the cords and smoothness of joins are what can take my knitting from enjoyable to frustrating so these Chiagoo needles are a good fit for me. Your Lykke needles are sooo pretty and I haven’t tried swivel cords yet. Thanks for a great, honest opinion video.

@@chaun72ie Ooh I actually don't have the Seeknit Curves, I just have the regular Koshitsu set. I do have to pull stitches onto the needles but otherwise the experience is quite good, the cord doesn't untwist from the needle while knitting. Is the difference with Seeknit Curves the fact that they go over smoothly from cable to needle?

My first se of interchangeables were ADDI turbos. I cant use them now because i dont have the the strength in my hand to insert the cord. I also feel for the price the cords bend too easily. My needles popped off too often but that could be operater issues.
