I have been knitting for over 50 years and I have never made gloves. I've made mittens and fingerless gloves. I have never attempted all of those fingers. Amazing. Thank you.

I had not tried before making these either! I didn’t think it was all that bad. Certainly not as bad as I had been led to believe. I hope you give it a try! 😊

i love these! I can't believe I missed this when you first posted. I have been knitting for close to 35 years and never thought to bring along a contrasting thread in order to count my rows. AMAZING. THank you!!

They are SO warm too! I often have to wear them without the "hood", and it is so nice to be able to adjust while out and about. I've been knitting most of my life too and... contrast string was all I knew. I only learned to use stitch markers last year. 😅

@@KristineVike I'm used to making my own stitch markers out of contrast yarn, but I never thought to bring it along to count rows. BRILLIANT. I recently just finished knitting up a pair of fingerless gloves for my best friend and I think I'm going to add a hood before I send them off!!! XD XD XD XD

Thank you! These look so cozy and warm while also being so lovely and useful! I've haven't made mittens or gloves yet. I've made socks, hats, scarves, and shawls galore. This might be the inspiration I needed to give it a try. Thank you again! May your friend remain oblivious until the holiday.

I hope they turn out great! I made a pair for myself before this gifting pair and I LOVE them. So versatile!

Did they notice? 😂🙈 very nice mitten/gloves - and very handy during cold days when needing to use the phone! 🤩

They didn’t… I wrote it on the gift tag… 😅😂 and yes! Very phone friendly!

I was looking for glove patterns at garnstudio and and recognized the secret gloves from your thumbnail XD So here I am! Very neatly done! Now to start knitting my own gloves or continue on the cardigan which I really need to work on more often 😅
@KristineVike3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, that’s fantastic! 😂 Also I like having two projects going at the same time. One that needs focus and one that doesn’t (at least not as much), if you need an excuse. 😉
@eliza74133 жыл бұрын
@@KristineVike noooo don't give me any more excuses 😭 (I mean if I knit the gloves fast enough they will still be useful for the winter 👀 and the cardigan is knitted with cotton for spring anyway) Guess I will be digging through the leftover stash to see if we have the right thickness wool for the gloves, I do know there are two yarn balls leftover of the right thickness, but one is orange/pink and the other blue/green XD

Love this video! I'm going to make my mom a pair for Christmas!! Thank you so much! Also even thought I'm a year late, I'm happy your friend was pleasantly surprised with their gift.

My favourite kind of gloves! Can be tricky to find the right size/decent material though. You are so awesome to knit them yourself 🤗🤗 I'm feeling half-way confident with socks and fingerless mitts, not ready for the finicky-ness (?) of knitting glove fingers.
@KristineVike3 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! I don’t think they’re too finicky, so long as you have the patience (then again, I think that about most things). At least the fingers are fast since they are so small. I hope you give it a go! 😊

The mnemonic I created for remembering the steps of the long-tail cast-on is "Slip under the fence, grab the guard, and tie him to a tree." Perhaps I watch too many spy movies, lol.

That’s a fun one, I like it! I was taught to knit when I was still in single digits, so it’s all muscle memory for me at this point. 😅
@sonipitts3 жыл бұрын
@@KristineVike Well, I mostly use this for teaching others. As you have probably discovered, once you establish the muscle memory for doing it, it's almost harder NOT to cast on this way. 😆

Beautiful! Can't help but wonder if it's possible to make them with magic loop instead of dpns...
@KristineVike2 жыл бұрын
Possibly! It's not something I'm too familiar with, but it would be interesting to know!
@itsamemaaike2 жыл бұрын
I've made fingerless gloves on magic loop before so that's not impossible, I'd say if you're used to magic loop even easier than dpn's. The gloves were with a thumb, which I did with magic loop, and all the other fingers are just thinner longer thumbs. I've also done the part where she puts the 'mitten-cap' on the already finished gloves with magic loop (it's how you make a kangaroo-pocket for a hoodie) and I had no problems there either. So it should be pretty doable. Edited to add link to the sweater video. The lady explains how to start the pocket (which is all you need here) about halfway in if I remember correctly. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4G9ZKqMoNVja6c

Hi! This would be my First ever project in many many years, Is It too ambitious to begin with?
@KristineVikeАй бұрын
I guess it very much depends on what you did before those many years. Generally, I advocate giving something a go if a project hits that serotonin boost of joy. The fingers can be a bit fiddly, but it's not overly complex. I would give it a go. :)
