A friend advised me to have a Latte for migraine relief, as it helped her a lot. I tried normal coffee but for some reason it didn't work. Some times I needed two. I am very lucky - after several years of severe migraine I found out they were triggered by Chocolate. Three days after eating it. After giving up all chocolate it took a whole month for the pain to not come with it, but still feeling ill. Around six weeks, no more migraines since. Twenty years later still none unless I have chocolate more than once or twice. - just visual disturbances as a warning.

I am glad you found the triggers and modifications that work for you! Migraine can be such a tricky beast to deal with, since everyone's triggers are different.

Thank you for sharing the message that not only are mistakes okay, they are normal. This is a concept that is not talked about enough. There will be mistakes and experiments in any craft, and not everything is going to turn out exactly the way that you imagine it. Sometimes it comes out better than expected, sometimes its not quite what you had hoped for and other times it is just as functional, but a little bit different. Learning is an ongoing process for all of us. And it is immensely helpful to share those moments. As someone who does not have a crofter nearby to learn from, much of my knowledge comes from videos. A lot of them have those bits of learning and experimenting edited out, and I don't learn as much. However, when people share those moments, I learn far more. It humanizes the process, and makes my brain more okay with trying things out, or iterating off of something that didn't quite work right. It also helps me to avoid some mistakes. Just last night, I remembered a video from another crater where she cut pieces out and forgot to label them. I almost did the exact same thing, but something in my brain went "Ah! We've seen this happen before!" and I remembered to label them, which has likely saved me from having to start completely over from scratch.
@KristineVike4 күн бұрын
I am so happy that you were able to remember someone else's mistake at just the right moment. So often we end up making the same mistakes. If we could ease the process even a little for someone else, it makes it worth it!

How did you get the idea to try this?
@sonipitts5 күн бұрын
Yes, same reasons but with hypermobility and associated whole-body symptoms that result from having connective tissue that feels like I bought it on Temu). Turns out, adapting your lifestyle and health behaviors to mitigate symptoms is a form of *treatment* not a *cure* (as I keep finding out when I stop paying attention and f*** around 🤡💩😂)

Ugh, I HEAR you! I just had a really bad October and have had to go back to lifestyle/health management basics. Being chronically ill is hard work. 💀

I have had migraines all my life, but they lessened considerably (or so I thought) when I became a stay at home mom. Then when my daughter left home, they did not "return" as they were before. I started having chronic dizzy spells and falls and nausea, with occasional headaches. I have now been diagnosed with vestibular migraine. So yeah, it is not headaches as much, but I am still chronically ill with migraines. They probably did not go away in the first place.

The wonderful things about that are that 1) if you hadn't said anything, I would have assumed this to be your intention for the project, and I think it's beautiful. 2) you learned things that will inform choices made in future projects.

I agree that you needed the dark background for the pattern to work well. I love watching the pattern grow when I'm doing colourwork but I find I seem to spend almost as much time dealing with ends as I do actually knitting it.

My wife is newer to fiber arts than I am (by 2 decades) and it was so easy for them to compare themself to my skill level. I told them that it's *still* common for me to restart a project a couple times to get it right. Frogging is a normal step at any stage of production, and I allow for an average of 20% frogging in all my projects (based on my personal history). But I also include 5% "oh well so what if people can see my mistakes"; I'm a human not a machine.

Here to support frogging as a normal step to especially creative "making-it-up-as-we-go" projects, and other creative adventures!

I absolutely love you!!! <3 I have been crocheting capelets recently because once i got the hang of the pattern it went fast but the trial and error getting there was agony nothing but agony for the reasons you listed. See the thing is , i am making capelets for a number of medical staff at my cancer clinic i go to for treatment. Only the good nurses are gonna get blessed this Christmas and the rest can continue on being ugly hearted on the job. Anyway the sizes is what i had trouble with and then i was so focus on size that i forgot the stitch count and one thing led to another , i would have had all 5 of them finished by now but nope only 1 due to all the complications i ran into. I think you that with your knitting you are revealing the same thing and that brings me peace of mind that it is not just me and it is ok to be less than perfect because it still looks like a masterpiece. I knit and Tunisian crochet as well but with knitting it is more punishing when an error is made by far then when crocheting. Kudos to you for your movie like presentation of your work It is like a mini movie that i wish would never end. From your magical neighborhood strolls that looks like you are in a magical snow globe where everything is perfect with the perfect bread and bakery at the corner of the peaceful quiet town while the children are bundled up ready to adventure in the ice and cold snow with their cat and dog while mom is busy making a hot delicious meal for when the children return home with their mind filled with wonders they encountered in the mystical snow drift forest. Thank you for all the cozy filled thoughts you inspire me to imagine! <3

I think the darker background colour makes the pattern colours 'pop' more. It's a lovely cowl. I once frogged a cardigan after more than 100 hours of work, it was a lace pattern and I realised that the design wasn't centred (patterns fault, not mine) and that I just couldn't live with it. I did have to put it away, for several weeks before I could bring myself to frog it though. I love colour work but then I am strange, I like weaving in the ends!
@KristineVike6 күн бұрын
I think for me, it is also in part that with only one thread I feel like I am racing along! But in colorwork I feel like I am constantly looking for the other thread. The results are gorgeous though. ❤️

Thank you for making another video. Yesterday for me was hectic. When I do play your videos I just chill with my hand sewing. Presently making a man's reenactment shirt. Do you plan on making videos on Thursday? If so I'll write it on my calendar. Next Thursday will be very busy and the following I believe is American thanksgiving. But you have such a calming voice and soft personality. I love the videos.

That floofy tail ❤️ I am so glad you’re feeling better. I understand chronic illness. My autoimmune disease has been in full flare since evacuating for Hurricane Milton here in Florida. I got the very same “don’t wait” lecture from my doctor. I guess it really is a small world. 😊 I also don’t drink any alcohol. Being on the coast in Florida I often have northern visitors. They frequently leave alcohol here that they don’t want to take back north when they leave. A few years ago I took a class on making cordials at a medieval event and have been making them from the alcohol left here ever since. Even though I don’t drink it, the gifts of cordial that I give have been very well received in my local medieval reenactment community. All I ask is that they return the empty glass bottles if they’d like a refill from the next batch. Currently I’m using vodka with apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and a tiny dash of black pepper to make the next batch. Right now I’m working on making all the pieces and components for a French Hood to go with my recently completed 1550s gown. The gown has 4,000 4mm glass pearls hand sewn onto it. I know it’s 4,000 because that’s how many I ordered and I used them all. I feel so badly for the person who was insulted for their weight in reenactment. How disgusting that anyone would make a comment about weight. Furthermore, it’s a comment that shows how downright willfully stupid the person who made the comment is. Have they not seen any portraits, funerary, or statutes of any historical figures? What an idiot, and I’m so angry one of our community members was insulted in this manner. My weight changes because the medicine I take for my autoimmune causes weight gain. So when I’m feeling better, I weigh less. I am never going to be called thin, and when I’m at my heaviest it’s also when I feel the worst because my autoimmune is bad. I get so many comments about how I’ve “let myself go” and I often reply, “I can change my weight but I can’t change your stupid.” Yes, I really say that. If they have the audacity to comment on my weight I strongly feel it’s perfectly acceptable to respond in kind with a factual remark. It’s also a very clear conversation ender and it always works. Thank you so much for another wonderfully relaxing video as I sit and stitch my fine cloth of gold pleats on the front of my French hood. Well, ok, mine are actually cloth of cheap polyester cartridge pleated gold metallic Christmas wrapping ribbon, but I’m totally willing to pretend it’s cloth of gold as I sit and contemplate how my common people ancestors may have sewn something like this for the wealthy. Thank you for all that you do. You are appreciated.
