Very helpful, indeed! Santa brought me a blanket kit to knit, and the pattern instructs to slip 1 purlwise wyif, and your clear instructions make that move clear to me :) Thank You, Staci!! You are my go-to gal for all of my knitting help :) XO-Shari

THANK YOU!!!! I normally only knit in the round because my edges always look like a 3 yr old was knitting! I wanted to slip the first stitch but wasn't sure how to handle the purl side! I think I've got it now!!!

Incredibly helpful!! Thank you! I have a question: whenever I turn my work halfway the knit row to add a few rows, I turn my work, I slip one stitch, purl a few, turn, slip one stitch, and continue knitting. The slipped stitch after the first time I turn (purl side) always looks very neat, but the slipped stitch after the second time I turn (knit side) always leaves a gap. How can I fix that?

Thankyou very easily explained but my pattern im going to start says: work on a multiple of 6 sts. P5, sl 1 knitwise repeat pattern. So does it mean just that what u did? Thanks
@verypinkknits4 жыл бұрын
You'll want to contact the pattern designer for complete clarity, but from what you've written here, it looks like you are to repeat purling five stitches then slipping one, purling five, slipping one, etc.

Can you show how to begin a row by slipping 2 stitches purlwise and then knit? This is confusing to me. Thanks!
@ankebakker37414 жыл бұрын
Hi Staci, I making a pattern and it tells me to slip a stitch purlwise with the yarn in the back and then knit 3 stitches. I get all this, I’m getting a nice row of slipped stitches. Question, do I give the yarn a bit more room to compensate for the slipped stitch on the knit and purl side? I find the stitches are pulled and uneven after or before the slipped stitches.
@verypinkknits4 жыл бұрын
I think it's most important to be consistent...and a bit of room to keep those stitches from pulling will probably help keep the work nice and flat.

I’ve a pattern that wants me to k2, yo, k6, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, slip 1 (knit wise), psso , k6, yo, k2. Can you show me how to do this? I cannot find a video that shows this particular pattern. Thanks.
@verypinkknits2 жыл бұрын
I have videos on each one of the stitches used in that pattern, but questions on that particular pattern are best answered by the pattern designer. I recommend contacting her directly, Facebook or Ravelry are usually good ways to reach designers.

I have a pattern that says With yarn in back ready to knit slip 1st purlwise ,knit to end. Row 2 with yarn in front ready to Purl, sl 1st purlwiise ,Purl to end. Repeat rows one and two until desired measurement Bind off. I’m a new knitter brave for a newbie I’d say but have learned quick. So is this what you are saying in this video? I’m just a tad confused because im new😊

I love your videos....if ever I need help on something I always look to see if you have a tutorial on it Please may I ask a question? I'm currently working on a shawl which has a mosaic pattern made using slip stitches. All's gone well so far (touch wood) but if I were to make a mistake along a row - say slip with yarn in back instead of in front - is there a way of correcting that on the next row or is the only option to rip back or tink? Thanks
@verypinkknits6 жыл бұрын
You can correct it...take a look at what the "float" looks like when it's carried in the back and front. You can reach down to the row below and creep the stitch under the float to the other side, correcting it. It is difficult to explain in a message, but I encourage you to look at your work, it should be pretty clear.
@sandiepanebianco28426 жыл бұрын
Ah, sort of like picking up a dropped stitch? That makes sense. Thank you
@verypinkknits6 жыл бұрын
No - not like picking up a dropped stitch. Just moving the "float" from the front to the back of the stitch, if you make a mistake. Again, I encourage you to look at the slipped stitches, and study what the "float" looks like, on both the front and back of the work.
@sandiepanebianco28426 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I've just tried moving the float of a couple of slipped stitches on the previous row to the other side of the stitch and I understand now. To be honest I'm glad it's not like picking up a dropped stitch as I'm working all in garter stitch and I loathe picking up dropped stitches in garter stitch...lost count of the number of times I've ended up with one stitch in stockinette because I've picked it up the wrong way and had to 'drop' it again to correct it Thank you for your help....much appreciated

After slipping a stitch knitwise and then finishing the row knitting to the end, turn knit to the end of that row, what do you do with the slip stitch ? Knit together the last two stitches?
@verypinkknits4 жыл бұрын
Usually a slipped stitch is treated like any other stitch in the row, but your pattern will tell you how to treat that stitch. If it is supposed to be knit together with another stitch, your pattern should clarify that.

how to purl 2 sts. skip one knit in the back loop of the next st. then knit in the skipped st.?
@verypinkknits8 жыл бұрын
It can be done - it's just a little awkward. Leave the skipped stitch on the left needle, knit through the back loop of the next stitch, then stretch your right needle around to knit the stitch you skipped. If my explanation isn't helping, you may want to visit your local yarn shop for help in person!
