Say you have a pic of your daughter & you want to knit her face on a sweater. How do you do that? I'm a New knitter on my machine. Just so you will know. Thank you for answering my question. The only way I saw other people do something like this, is using a knitting software such as designaknit, I never did but witnessed another talented knitter do that and it was really cool. Hello, can you create floats using this carriage? As in if you wanted to do multiple colours of intarsia that aren’t confined to solid blocks and and have the odd stitch elsewhere in the row? Or would this be achieved by a colour changer or something? I am very lost just trying to learn what I would need to do multi-coloured pictures (I guess equivalent to multiple coloured fairisle)

Hello 👋 U believe that is possible but I wouldn’t recommend as if the floats are longer than 3 stitches, little holes will appear which kind of defeats the purpose of using the intarsia carriage in my opinion. When it comes to the colour changer, I don’t think it can be used a yarn has to be manually laid on the needles 🤔 Hope this helps, good luck! 🤗

Hi. Thank you for the video. It might be a silly question but I'm trying to self learn. What are the different types of carriages? In this you talk about intarsia carriage. I'm confused. Which carriage do you use when? Any books I could use to self learn since I'm trying to figure out which carriages are there and which is to be used when. Can all samples be produced from this one machine? Hope you could help me out I'll be super grateful 😊

hi! thank you 🤗 not a silly question, yes in this video I am using in intarsia carriage which is only used for intarsia. I took my normal knitting carriage off the machine for this. My brother machine has 2 extra carriages : for intarsia and for lace knitting. And to answer your second question, I can produce a multitude of samples on this machine, Fair Isle, cables, lace etc. Hope this helps🤗🤗

i have a fairly old machine and only one carriage! is it possible to do this on a single bed without an intarsia carriage ?

I saw in a Brother manual that you could do intarsia using the plating feeder. Haven’t tried it though, so I am not sure how would that work. Another way to use two colours and achieve a similar effect is by doing short rows or partia knitting. You can create simple shapes like that. Hope this helps 🤗
