I love addi needles 12 inch for socks or lace. They are awesome. I am going to knit two at a time socks. Square needles are great for that. The yarn doesn’t slip off the needle easily.. I ordered a size 2 addi Rocket 2 squared from Amazon. I prefer to knit with a circular with rather than straight needle, even back and forth. I do love the addi flex needles too. I actually like anything with the Addi label. They last and last and are the best. I knit small projects because I carry them without me everywhere. My hands don’t get as tired with them. Great for my arthritic hands. I don’t hold needles so tight.

They never come apart (if you get the click) compared to twist on which have failed me soooo many times The grooves help the knitting process, I LOVE THEM

How do you use a gauge if there squared does it come with a gauge with square holes
@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 3 жыл бұрын
That is an issue-they don’t fit in standard gauge sizers. The good news is that the size is etched into the needle tip just above the join. Also, Skacel had partnered with Katrinkles who had created a custom needle gauge for the Rocket Squared sets

Looking for shorter needles, not just tips. Does Addi have anything like this?
@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 3 жыл бұрын
Addi has all lengths. Down to 12” circumference, and possibly smaller. But to be perfectly honest, at that point I would be looking at Flexi flips or two circulars.

Wondering if you feel these needles are better in the 4" length or the 5" length? Is it just preference or is there an ergonomic difference? Thanks
@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 3 жыл бұрын
So the difference between the 4” and the 5” set is that you can create a 16” circular with the 4”, but you cannot get that small a circumference with the 5” tips. I prefer knitting with the 5” tips, but if you do a lot of hats and don’t mind the shorter tip length, then either is fine. I stock both, and the longer sets sell much better. I hope that helps. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions 😀

Never used them but just received the set from my sweet husband for Christmas (of course he couldn’t wait to give them to me so I have them already). Thanks for showing/telling me how they work. Can we buy extra cords? Also can we join the cords? I’ve heard at the store he bought them from that you can use the cords for their Tunisian interchange set too, any info on this? Thanks so much for this ladies!
@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yes, all of the cables are interchangeable so you can use the cables that you have for your Addi click set with this set, or with the Tunisian Crosstitch a set. In your said you should have received a small silver tube about 2 inches long that allows you to join the cables together to make one as long as you like. And you can buy additional cables and stoppers in case you have more than one project going at a time. Ha ha no one ever does that 😉

Hi! I have just purchased these. I am a magic loop girl. Knitted on dpns years ago. These remind me why I stopped. I am using these for toe up socks. They take se getting used to. I would kust like to say if the center cord was one inch longer I think they would hang down easier instead of flopping around. Just my opinion. Love the way the sts flow of the needle and i like the squared. I would love ti love them
@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 4 жыл бұрын
Sandra Casagrande thanks so much for contacting me about these needles. I agree that magic loop is a problem for toe-up socks!! We use two circulars rather than knitting in the round, which is much easier and lets you use shorter cables. Let me know if you are interested in a video of working small circumference in the round on two circulars.

Crazy For Ewe Yarns no i do that sometimes. I am almost to the heel with the flexi flips. Had to find how to make them comfortable for me. I still think if the cord in the middle of the fkexj flips was 1 in longer that would hang down out of the way. Hope the company looks for feedback. Thats how things improve. Thanx for reply

@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 2 жыл бұрын
The Novels are only in fixed right now, and even if they come out in interchangeables, they would only go down to 3.5mm. That’s as small as they can make the join mechanism.

@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 4 жыл бұрын
Samantha Ritchie I have never seen authentic Addis with a red cord, but I am certainly not an expert on the history of cord colors 😀They used to all have a gold cord, but now those are only sold in Europe. Americans Addis all have the blue cord, and those are the ones Skacel guarantees for life.

I'm sorry, but Addi's lace tips cannot be called sharp. I tried knitting with the lace ends of the Flexi Flips and it was very difficult to do lace with them, they are very blunt. Sharper than Turbos, yes, but then again what needles aren't sharper than Turbos? I do love the nickel-plated brass (or its substitute) that Addi uses. I have other metal needles that are just as slick, but there's something about the Addi metal that only Addi has, and only with them can I get the high speed. If Addi could make needles with Turbo materials and the sharpness of the Hiya Hiya Sharps, preferably a set of the smaller sizes, I would be on them in a heart beat.
@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Carmen! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. You are right that the Addi Lace is not as sharp as the Hiya-Hiya-or Chiao-Goo for that matter. In the shop we moved away from Hiya-Hiya in favor of the Chiao-Goo red lace which have that amazing no-kink cable. They too have a surgical steel finish that just isn’t as nice as the turbo plating. I do love how the stitches slide on it! It’s interesting how a seemingly small aspect of the needles can so impact our knitting experience. I will forward your comment to Skacel and see if they can put in a request for a super-sharp tip. Maybe in just the smaller sizes, as you say, and see how they do. I suspect lots of lace knitters, like you, would welcome that addition to the market. Thanks again for the comment. Happy knitting! Also, would love to see some of the beautiful lace things you’ve knit. What is your Ravelry name? I’m EllenE

@@CrazyForEwe Hi Ellen! Thanks for your reply! I actually just got in the mail a few pairs of Chiaogoo mini needles (1.5mm - 2.5mm), to supplement my Hiya Hiya set, which starts at 2.75mm. I was quite surprised to find that I like the feel of the Chiaogoo plating better than the Hiya Hiya plating, though I have yet to knit with them because at the moment I'm doing the body of a blouse that is mostly just a sea of simple stockinette, so I'm using Addi Turbos, as that is where they shine. The sleeves will be lace, so I'll see then. My Ravelry name is LjubovZaYarilo, but I don't really use it much. I don't have any of my own stuff on there, I just use it to save/download/buy patterns I like. Perhaps I should change that. :)

I recently purchased the interchangeable set Addi rocket 2squared. I’m so disappointed in them because the cord pulls out of the needle as I push my yarn forward. I bought these needles because of arthritis in my hands and wrists and they do help.
@CrazyForEwe
@CrazyForEwe 3 жыл бұрын
Oh no! If the cables are pulling out, then they are not properly attached. They can be a little sticky at first. You should feel a definite click as the cable and tip settle into place. I hold the cable in my left hand and the tip in my right hand, a d I use the grippy circles. Then I inset the cable into the tip a little and rotate it a little until it fits. Then I push it gently towards the cable and rotate the tip away until it’s locked into place. If it still doesn’t work for you, take it back to the store where you bought it, and they will check it for you. If there is a problem with either the cable or the tip, and you purchased your set from an authorized Addi retailer, the company will replace the part for you. The US distributor is Skacel Knitting, and they are wonderful
