the festive doodle sweater looks amazing! i think if you make it longer like you originally planned, you can then steek up the center and add button bands. that way it can at least be worn open and your hard work doesn't go to waste!

Hi Megha - thank you for another fun episode. As to your Festive Doodle sweater... wool is so forgiving. Except for the no pins problem, you can definitely block it to fit, but you'll have to get it wet & then pin it to the correct size & let it dry that way. I've done that numerous times over the years. It works very well. Your work is so beautiful it would be a shame to rip it all out. Could you block it in a room where you can close the door to keep out your kitties? Or would your sweet neighbor who watches the cats when you're gone let you block it at her house? As to your Anker sweater... I don't know that yarn, but if it's a cotton/linen blend, which it looks like it is, you needn't block it the way you do wool. I throw my cotton & linen knitted garments in the washer & dryer & they do really well. In fact, the linen just keeps getting better every time that I do that. Your sweater might shrink up a bit if you both wash & dry it hot, but if you keep the temperature down, it should do just fine. Happy Knitting, & I'll see you in two weeks. 🤗🧶

I am going to live vicariously through your knitting journey. I could never in a lifetime accomplish what you manage to do. Even your WIPS are spot on. The last sweater you showed that was a brownish colorwork needing the sleeves done. I would be heart broken to frog that master piece. Can you do a short sleeve version and then wear a white collar shirt under with the tails untucked? That might make you feel more comfortable. Everyone has a little covid weight so don't beat yourself up about it. You will get bac to your normal I am confident. Lovely episode as always.

So much fun to hear about and see what you're working on and your WIPs! The festive doodle is wonderful. I would block it before I did anything else- just in the state it's in, and see if you feel more comfortable. You can easily cut it and make it a cardigan, even if you didn't include steek stitches, and then a slightly wider button band can get you a couple of inches. Undoing the bind off and adding a little length also seems like it would go quickly! The only other thought I had was to block it, make it short sleeved, and wear something under with length and a little "flow" so you don't feel the need to pull it down as much (assuming post-block you feel comfortable with the circumference). Looking forward to seeing what you decide!

Thank you so much Jessica! I will definitely consider these options 😊

I also love your festive doodle BUT maybe when you wash and block it it will grow a little? I'd also consider finishing it a little longer (hey it's a top down sweater....just undo that cast off and knit a little more then add the ribbing. EASY FIX) But seriously after it's finished and then blocked, try it on and if you still hate the way if feels then gift it to someone in your family? Because it's stunning and someone should have it in their wardrobe for sure.

Your blizzard sweater turned out beautifully and I love your color choice. It looks great on you. When you mentioned the silk content of the Hasegawa yarn, I could not imagine how soft and luxurious it must be. The Festive Doodle is on my wish list this year. I see people comment that they actually knit it 3x bigger to get a nice fitting sweater, which makes me a bit nervous....I will definitely swatch for this one. As for Covid weight...I wonder as we make our way out of this pandemic, if our bodies will slowly return to normal. I am glad I took up Intermittent Fasting 3yrs ago, so my body hasn't increased too much. Maybe for your Festive Doodle...do short sleeves, lengthen the body, and hopefully you'll be happy with it. It's probably more snug than your used to, but in reality it does show off your hourglass figure nicely 😊

Great episode. Your blizzard sweater is stunning! So is the festive doodle sweater. I’d frog it back to the bust. The yoke fits perfectly. I don’t like clingy tops either. I think you’ll be happier with some positive ease. It’s too beautiful not to wear. I’ve made 3 Marie Wallin sweaters- 2 in Jamieson spindrift and one in her British Breeds. I LOVE them!! I changed the body color on the Bressay sweater and used her yoke colors. I changed both colors in the Nigella sweater. With the Hawthorne sweater I followed the colors exactly using the British Breeds yarn. That yarn is amazing! It has a very sheepy smell and is extremely soft and lovely next to skin. My Ravelry name is trixietoo if you’d like to check them out. The sleeves on Bressay and Nigella were on the snug side so I’d watch out for that. I look forward to seeing how your projects progress!

Dear Cathy, oh wow! Your Marie Wallin sweaters are so so beautiful! You are such a prolific knitter and I love your color choices. Don’t frog the Festive Doodle !!! I know you may feel like it is too fitted but to me it looks perfect on you. It shows off your beautiful hourglass figure. Cones of Holst are available in Canada from Little Red Mitten in Ontario. Also Megha, I looked at the yarn used in the Foliage and that yarn is actually more like a sport weight 300 m / 100 g. Your knitting is beautiful as always, and your colours are perfection!! So inspirational - I want to make them all now! For the linen sweater I don’t know how much it will grow if it’s linen so I would block it before you do any ripping as it is gorgeous and might be totally fine. Same with the Festive Doodle - block and see if you can get some more ease, and then add length if you feel you need it. Such gorgeous colours - it would be a shame not to wear it (and wear it often!!). If you still feel it doesn’t have enough ease for your taste after blocking, then you only need to rip back to the underarms as the shoulders fit you perfectly!

About the yoked sweater WIP (C Hunter one) - I actually think it fits very nicely and that it will likely block to be a smidge more roomy. But obvs, you are not digging it as it currently is - which is your purview. I recommend that you may wish to lengthen the ribbing, to meet that preference, finish and block and - if you still find it too snug - then just give it a bit of time for when things go back to "normal" and your pre-covid measurements are likely to return. I agree - that would be hard to rip back after having done so much lovely work. But if it doesn't get worn, that's no fun either...

Hi Megha ! Another great time with you :) Your Windermere is going to be crazy! I can't wait to see the end result! still full of beautiful projects. I'm always in awe of how fast you knit. I don't have as much knitting experience as you do, so I'm not sure I can help you make some decisions. It's rather you who inspire me often ;) For your Festive Doodle, I'm not an expert, but I think you could lengthen it easily by doing longer ribs and maybe blocking it aggressively you could widen it a bit? even if I think it still suits you well like that. But I agree with you, I would lengthen it at the bottom, I would undo the bind off to lengthen the ribs if you have enough wool. Otherwise (I don't know at all if it's feasible!) but you could also make a steek on the sides and add a strip of knitting on each side by catching up the stitches by knitting as you go in a neutral color ( like lighter or darker?) to make your sweater look bigger. In short, it's my idea in my head, but I don't know if it's done ! Take care. xoxo Emma

Dear Emma, thank you so much for your lovely message! You give some great ideas! I will definitely block it and lengthen first and then see how it fits 😊 I will leave the steeking as the last resort as I can’t do anything once I cut the yarn 😊

Your WIP sweater by Tete Beche is stunning. If I didn't have so many of my own designs to work on, I would definitely make that one.

Totally get that the Festive Doodle is out of your comfort zone if you usually wear lots of positive ease but I actually thought it was very flattering on you. Maybe just make it a little longer so you’re comfortable? Your projects are all so impressive and I love your perspective and your laugh. Keep up the good work!

Just getting caught up on your podcast and just wanted to say thanks for sharing your languising wips. I have many of those as well and it was one of those things that I made myself feel bad about...that I'm not as monogamous, organized or seemingly polished as other knitters (I have soooo many single socks missing a pair...and I'm an avid sock knitter, I love socks...but I just have things that sit and sit). Anyways...thanks for helping me see someone else who goes through the same stuff. It helps! :)

Aww I am glad I could support you in the many wips! I think crafting should make us happy… don’t worry about what people say it should look like! It looks like whatever you want 😁😁

I don't know anything about garment construction, but would steeking and adding button bands buy you enough ease to be comfortable in the Festive Doodle? Everything looks amazing. You cracked me up saying you'd been shying away from colorwork and then BAM! Everything on the horizon is colorwork! Love that conquering spirit, lol!

Steeking is definitely a good option Linda! I will wait to do that as my last resort 😊 Thank you so much for your lovely message!

Hello - You did a great job with the Festive Doodle. Maybe you could create enough desired ease when you wet block it. Just a thought. Great episode and love the projects you are working on. I also plan to knit the Blizzard sweater sometime in the near future.

Thanks for your persistence with the 3rd try to video your podcast! Your festive doodle is lovely -- have you thought of steeking it and turning it into a cardigan? The zippered cardigan you made is great. I love the way peace fleece knits up. Warm wishes to you and your kitties from Oregon.

Thank you so much Celeste! Steeking is definitely an option... but, I don't feel like cutting the yarn as it can never be anything else then! I want to be sure I like the fit and look before I steek.

Many podcasters are saying that these yoke sweaters bubble in the front. One person thought it may be because of the quick increases. The other problem is if the quick increases dont happen the garment feels like they pull around the upper arms.

Aah that does make sense!

That Festive Doodle is completely gorgeous. I don’t blame you for not wanting to frog it. If blocking won’t get it to the size you want, I’m wondering if you could do some yarn surgery. Could you steek the sides and add a panel to loosen the fit a little? I’m a very new knitter. Only one sweater, so far, so I have no idea if that would work. I realize you don’t have any steek stitches at the sides, but that yarn is very wooly and “sticky” so it may hold together so you could add the panel. Maybe? I love your podcasts and think you’re work is lovely. Stay safe.

Hi Megha, I have made the sweater Primrose from Marie Wallin. I usually fit size small, so I knit the sweater in that size......but the sleeves are so tight....🙄 next time I knit something from Marie Wallin, I will go one size up.😉

That Festive Doodle is beautiful! I love the way you address the honest idea that you might not wear it because you’re uncomfortable! I feel like I’m in denial a lot of times trying to convince myself it will be OK.I hope that the aggressive blocking helps!! I can’t wait to see the Milkshake Cardigan finished. I enjoy your podcast the most of any I am watching right now. you do such a great job and I love your laugh.😉

Thank you so much Suzanne!! I did that a lot before, told myself it will be okay and gave away so many sweaters that didn't fit me as my friends love my knits :D But, I had to stop and think why that was happening and now I feel determined to make things that fit me right now!

lovely sweaters. for your hubby's sweater- sometimes for heavy sewing- try going to a shoe repair place or a dry cleaner-- they have heavy-duty sewing machines and probably would not charge very much. zippers are tricky in some stitches. but its worth it. great work

Oh the cat tail was hilarious 😂 and the cats playing soccer, too funny! I agree with others about the festive doodle maybe an aggressive block will make your feel more comfortable and just add a bit of length? It’s a beautiful knit. Well done on your finished objects, all fabulous! I love the idea of the languishing WIPs I have so many of those 😊. I can’t wait to see what you do with your Marie Wallin 🥰

The anker shirt wip: even if the cotton yarn grows with blocking, a few minutes in a warm tumble dryer will tighten it up again. I think you should just finish it as it is.

Hi Megha! I think your Festive Doodle Sweater look fantastic on you! I wouldn't rip it out at all, I think you should just add more ribbing to the bottom-like maybe double the length of ribbing? I'm not familiar with the pattern, but if it has long sleeves I think knitting the cuffs to the same length as the new body hem will make it look cohesive. That is so much hard work and you've done a really good job! All your knitting is inspiring. I have a very long queue of sweater patterns but seem to knit more socks lol. I watched a previous video of yours and wanted to offer a cardigan suggestion. Like a Cloud by Joji is by far my favourite cardigan I've made. There are no buttons and the construction of it makes it stay perfectly on the shoulders. Happy knitting!

I thought blocking it is a good idea too ( the doodle sweater I mean). And then wearing it as a short sleeve top or vest because they will look good with no ease, it actually looks great just the way it is. So a small amount of rib on the sleeves and a little extra rib on the bottom and voila, love your podcasts.

Don't frog the Festive Doodle. There are great suggestions from some of the other watchers. It is a beautiful sweater and looks very nice on you, add to the ribbing of the hem to a comfortable length then go from there. If anything you be able to gift knit to a family member who you know would wear it with love.
