There is a book called "knit to flatter" by Amy Herzog that covers not only bust darts, but lots of other shaping techniques. She gave classes in craftsy and it was very nice.

Oh thank you so much for the recommendation! I'll have to take a look at that :)

Your projects are all lovely and it’s a delight watching/hearing you talk about them. On the shirt-i don’t think the puff looks bad! Of course it’s a matter of preference and comfort, but that’s generally the look i tend to go for with a puffier shirt

I admire your perseverance. And the fact that you are willing to do so much work to figure out the vintage patterns. I salute you!

Thank you so much!! It's like a fun mathematical puzzle, so right up my alley :)

I’m here for all the green yarn because I too love green. I’m so impressed with time you put in to figuring out the vintage knits. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚

To fix the bag, you are on the right track! Find solid color pieces of fabric that match the colors in the original material. Sew those together in anyway that’s a patchwork you like. Use this piece as if it were a single fabric. This will allow you to cut the pieces easily to the size and shape you need to match your pattern. In other words, you can cut all the pieces per the pattern and you are good to go. Beautiful fabric - and your bag will come out great.

You're on fire with your podcasts and videos ma! My fall patterns podcast came out so late 😅 On a side note: I wanted to thank you for introducing me to Japanese short rows and your love for them BC you saved a project of mine that involves a lot of horrible german short rows LOL the JSR just look so neat and I won't be going back to GSR if I can help it! So Thank You 💐

Thank you so much!! :D And yay!! I'm so happy to hear that, I absolutely love Japanese short rows! Using them on my Swan Shawl has made knitting up the frill so much more bearable. Very happy to hear that they're working out for you as well :)

Not the kick in the face in the intro, Seji!! LMAAAOOOO (always here for dance intro) Always wanted to ask about your background on learning languages: you know/use so much different ones it's amazes me. Is it your hobby or just how much you into knowing all the details on the pattern?

Hahaha that day I was ready to fight lol XD I'm autistic and have picked up a lot of special interests throughout my life, I've had a particular interest in Japanese and ended up taking a bachelor's degree worth of courses on it (just my thesis left, but I don't know when I'll do that). I've studied a bunch of languages for fun and knitting happens to be one of the few situations I can actually put that knowledge to use :) So it's all just a bit random haha
@magicksecrets2 ай бұрын
@ fellow autistic here! But my special interests are not that cool lmaooo My ADHD is in the front most of the time so I’m more random in picking the thing I’m interested 😵💫 But I’m so into knitting and crochet for last two years and love it dearly 💗

You provide very interesting and different take on knitting, thank you! I am especially amazed, though, where you find time you are investing in knitting and podcasting. Aren't you a full time student of mathematics or statistics or something like that? Please share how you manage your time, if you care, this seems a special kind of art of yours
@SejiFields2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much!! Actually I'm not studying statistics full time at the moment -- I'm autistic and struggle a lot with going to public places so classes are nightmares😅. I do a lot of self-study and take my exams when I feel ready to do so -- I spend a lot of time knitting because it's currently my special interest and therefore very soothing :)
@anciify2 ай бұрын
wow, fortunately you can arrange and afford to take your own pace with study, good for you!

So cool, youre learning about grading, youre redesigning sweaters... any chance you'll make the journey to pattern design?
@SejiFields2 ай бұрын
Thank you!! :D I would like to in the future, but would have to save up quite a bit for a tech editor as they aren't very cheap to hire -- so it might take some time. At the very least there will be more self drafted knitwear in the future :)

I got it from Eddna.nl it's a yarn website that sends Swedish and Icelandic yarn to the Netherlands and Belgium :)

I don't know if that first reply got to you as it seems KZbin doesn't like links but it's a website called Eddna. They ship yarn from Iceland and Sweden to the Netherlands and Belgium ;)
