So much troubleshooting and adjusting is required to knit useful/beautiful/interesting things! It’s helpful and fun to hear about your process.

Thank you so much! And yeah lots of trial and error hahah -- it makes knitting so much more fun though accepting that frogging is a big part of the process :) I'm very happy to hear that my process is interesting to listen to :)))

I love the sweater you're wearing. Your videos are always so informative and entertaining. I also love green, so the more green knits, the better. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚

Thank you so much!! And yes to green knits!! I'm knitting up the Dagmar jacket in dark green at the moment and it's an absolute pleasure to knit :)

Having to think consciously about the yarn makes it feel like the finish project will be much more meaningful.
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
Yeah I totally agree with that sentiment! I'm currently knitting up a bunch of swatches for upcoming projects and it has been a fun experience switching so quickly from different types in just a couple of hours :)

I haven't done ラジオ体操 in years and I just paused your video to do the exercises. Gonna add this to my knitting process because I am horrible at regulating my knitting with movement. 懐かしい ~

You are doing so well with your knitting. You are really learning so much about the technical aspects of yarn, patterns, the art of knitting. 😊🧶
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
Thank you so much! My learning curve has been incredibly steep this year and it has been so much fun to learn so many new things :D

@@SejiFields My knitting goals in 2024 was to complete a lot of projects. 2025 will be my year of “You can do hard things.” I am going to focus on quality while I master the fundamentals of colorwork, cables, and socks. I’ll probably have half the projects this year but that is OK! 😊🧶
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
@@stephaniewilliams8687 That's an awesome goal!! And yeah that's totally okay, I'm sure you'll be very pleased in the end :))

My current WIP is my first time working with Holst Garn, and I’m really liking it. I may have to eventually try a whole cone too…
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
Oh cool! What are you knitting/crocheting up? I love the cones because you get so a good deal -- I think here in the Netherlands I can get up to 25% off just by getting the cones.
@StetStitchesАй бұрын
@ I’m knitting a patchwork cardigan. I’ve had about 5 skeins of a golden yellow for probably 7 years and I’m using it to be the color that sort of ties everything together. It’s in some of the squares, all the ribbing, and the sleeves.
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
@@StetStitches Oh that's awesome! Supersoft is also such a good yarn for that as they have so many colours :) Best of luck with your project!!
@anciifyАй бұрын
for knitting with triple strands, maybe look into Navajo plying - much easier than knitting from two cones, imho... but three strands might be too bulky...
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
Wow thank you! I just watched a quick video on it and my mind is confused and blown away hahah! I'll have to look into this more that's a great recommendation! Yeah three would be more of an aran weight and I'm trying to make a somewhat lighter sweater than the previous two :)

Thank you for sharing your journey! Would you be able to provide links to the books you mention? While they may not be available in English, I'd still be curious to see more about them. Thank you!
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! Oh yeah sorry that's my mistake, I usually add them to the description box, but I seem to have left it out this time around -- I added it just now :)
@tiateri541Ай бұрын
I had to pause the video when you spoke about missing instructions that were at the bottom of the page under the photo, because I just had the same thing happen to me! It was a sock pattern with a double knitted sole. Luckily I haven’t started the project, but was reading through the pattern to make sure I understood it. With my pattern, I thought I might be missing a page of instructions because the following page started mid-sentence. I was so confused. It me a while to see that the first half of the sentence was under a diagram on the previous page. So frustrating….
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
Ah dang, it's good to know I'm not the only one hahah! Glad though that you caught it before starting!! :)

I bought some holst coast which is working up beautifully (just a vest). I have my eye on the cobalt blue 💙Have you tried their supersoft?

Oh that's lovely!! I'm pretty sure I worked with it on a project this year (it was under the name of the wholesaler) and it really softened up after blocking :)

Thank you for another interesting and informative video. :-) What is the green sweater you're wearing, please? I checked your project page in Ravelry but couldn't see it there. It's a really polished looking sweater and suits you well. I'd like to add it to the 4,592 others in my Ravelry "Favorites" list.

Thanks so much for watching!! It's the Frill Yoke Sweater by Hana Saeid. There's no information about the pattern on Ravelry, but I added my project as well as the pattern page just now :)

@@SejiFields Thanks for that info. Japanese designers create such beautiful patterns. They have a crisp, polished look that truly is distinct. I am impressed that you were able to knit it considering the pattern isn't available in English. Well done!

all of the issues would have been avoided if designers would finally stop writing patterns with words. Full body chart with symbols would have been so easy for everybody.
@SejiFieldsАй бұрын
Charts are great! I think a great solution would be to offer both, because it increases the accessibility. There are a lot of people who due to preference or disability don't like to/can't work with charts -- The Knitting Pattern Writing Handbook by McGrath and Walworth have a great section on this :)
