I've mostly made superwash merino sweaters because I'm pretty sensitive to longer fibers (rustic wool, mohair, even alpaca!) and I adore all the fabulous colors. I'd like to branch out into trying more non-super wash but it's a bit more of a gamble to order online. To me SW feels quite different from acrylic, but I don't expect it to have the same body/structure as a NSW. I'd look for textured patterns that lean into a drapey look, like Magdalena Parker's Grayling Sweater or Aneta Bleyer's Drifting Waves. Something where you like the look of a flatter texture.

Howdy; I hope you're doing okay and that your knitting/sewing is still rolling along.

Cozy Crewneck sweater looks so good. A good idea to knit for my husband as well. Thank you for a wonderful episode!

The Salty Days Sweater in that color would be so lovely! Heads up, the swatch for that pattern can be tricky with the ribbing so make sure you block it carefully. I ended up with a wearable but slightly too small sweater last winter.

Thanks! I’ll make a note!

I totally agree with you about superwash, I only really buy it now for socks and am in the process of using up a bunch in smaller projects to get it out of my stash. I'm usually a one project person, but that changes if I need easy knitting for social knitting so I may have a hat or socks on the needles for that and then either a sweater or shawl for my other project. I actually get stressed out when I have too many things going because I'm a product knitter and love finishing things.

I understand getting stressed out- I think I might be starting to feel this way. It’s why I’m not casting anything new on I think!

Thanks for sharing your project plans. I’m swatching as I watched this for the MKAL, never participated in any of his projects but I’ve got burnt orange and a fall yellow/brown/green that I’m hoping works up into something I’ll love.

I think if my yarns felt more like fall I would be interested in taking part again. Yours sound lovely!

Hi Hi! That tweedy sweater is looking so yummy! I've been just knitting on one project at a time.....with a sock going as well. They just seem to get finished quicker. 😊 I've just received my MKAL kit! I was planning on joining in this year (my 2nd), but I had every intention of sourcing my yarn closer to home haha. I'll be sharing my colors on my project page soon. Not intentional, but it will look stunning with the winter coat that I'm nearly finished with! I'm thinking this one might be a little smaller, ? as it's 4 sk instead of 5. It just needs to be contrast-y. Happy knitting!

Ooohh I love this! If I had yarn that would work I’d totally do it again. Some of those kits are so beautiful and I loved my kit from last year

Love your explorer colours! But I agree, superwash is not for me either. I would probably pair it with a mohair to change the feel of it. I have seen textured knits in superwash that looked good. Still don't like the feel of the yarn but it's better than stockinette.

I want to purchase that Wool of the Andes yarn to make myself a sweater. Is it scratchy by any chance?
@whitmakes4 ай бұрын
I don’t find it scratchy- but obviously haven’t worn yet. It feels like wool but not quite as dry as some others if that makes sense.
