Speedy work on the tops, they look great! On your Brynn, did you do a working or a faux button placket? I have the pattern but I haven't made it yet. Do you happen to know what weight that knit you preferred (the heavier one) is? Knits are always a little tricky to pair because each one is different.

I lived in Pasadena for 17 years and know the areas you are talking about. It is so devastating. I have donated to World Central Kitchen with Jose Andres, an amazing person, and my favourite place. I also donated to a colleague's GoFundMe page, and just know that is close to a 20% 'tip' added. I understand it is to run the business, but I will continue to look for places where they don't add that much money. I decided to do it in this case as it was for someone personal to me.

Yay! A productive sewing day! I love the Hepburns you made; they seem like they will be very useful pieces. The fires here in CA are so scary. I live n N. California, so I'm not affected this time, but I unfortunately know all to well that anxiety and fear living in the Sierra Foothills. I hope your brother stays safe. I love that you are highlighting charities we can give to. I am planning on working on my Remi Raglan today. I want to make the long sleeve version. I also got to go to a fun fabric swap yesterday in Sacramento! It was very cool to chat with a few other sewing enthusiasts and pass on some patterns I wasn't using. I love the sewing community. Thanks, as always, for the video!

Looking forward to following along! 😍 I just got accepted for my first ever test knit by Ozetta for the Great Lakes. So excited! I assume you are going to hold the Madelinetosh double for the Wednesday since that is a bulky gauge? I love the simply wool. I knit my Dagmar in it (and also another cardigan in the worsted version of that yarn). It's nice to knit with and pretty soft. Knitpicks used to classify it as bulky but after feedback has put it to aran. I would swatch with it, it could work!

That transparent fabric might as well be made into some type of gothic longe gown lingerie and just embrace the sheer vibes because the idea of sheer thermal underwear sounds impractical, like you'll just be cold any way, and silly. Happy sewing

I've purchased a similar polartec fabric which is also quite thin..trust me its fairly warm.. I made a long sleeved basic shirt which i just wear a tank top underneath and I don't normally wear it if I'm indoors because its too warm. I also have some plaid wood that I'm planning to make up in the next month (hopefully) I decided on the Octave Coat from Love Notions, it has 2 types of collars, I do like the wider collar, but the integrated hood in the smaller collar looks so comfy. Would I use the hood.. probably not as our average winter day time temps are 5 degrees Celsius 🙃.. but perhaps could be useful if its raining...I think the Syd tie top will look great in the red and you could probably wear it summer and winter😊I

Oh my gosh! I have some Polartec power grid that I bought FOREVER ago and never figured out what to do with it. My husband has a ready to wear sweatshirt (Nike I think) that has powergrid as the lining and it's super warm. If you figure out what to make with it I'd love to know because I bought a lot! FWIW the polartec sweatshirt fleece, if you ever run across it, is fantastic for cozy warm sweatshirts.

I'd try a long-sleeved top over a sports bra and see how it works as a base layer. For leggings you could use a solid black as the main fabric with the sheer only on the sides (I think you have a leggings pattern designed like this by green style maybe?). For the coat, I'm in favor of a big collar for the 70's vibe! The diagonals of the folded back plaid break up the pattern in a good way. I'm going to make the Closet Core Phoebe coat (shown in a plaid on one of the models). In addition to the cool collar I like that it has bigger sleeves for layering sweaters underneath. It's more tailored than the patterns you're looking at. I'm definitely going to make a muslin first. You keep referring to having talked more about your updated style in a previous video and I love those conversations but I can't seem to find that video, can you please point out which one it was in? Thanks!

@@whitmakesAh, okay thanks! I had wondered if it had been edited out... it's hard to have a one-sided conversation and know if it's interesting to anyone else. Our style is always evolving too, so pinning down defining features sometimes feels too prescriptive. We don't really know if it feels right until we have been wearing new styles over time. I'll look forward to whatever form it comes in!

I am a beginner sock knitter. I started a pair, like 20 times, and am once again starting over. Do you have a beginner sock pattern and/or vlogger to recommend to help me to be successful this time? Of course the heel is the MOST challenging part. Threadloops or Backstitch, which do you think is more comprehensive? My main goal is to document my fabric stash and want fabrics to use with what projects, no so much the sewing process. Tracing patterns is a good idea. I find I can't find the patterns when they are even several months old and alterations to the pattern change over time. Also I may want to use just one part of pattern, etc. When you go through your patterns would you announce the ones you want to let go of? I wish I had put mine up somewhere for people to purchase because it is hard to find older ones these days. I am totally impressed with 3 vlogs a week. I would totally get overwhelmed ESPECIALLY with actually MAKING and presenting makes to others. I find it hard to find time to knit AND sew, though I am committed to both this year AND quilting AND gardening AND caring for all my lovely critters.

For socks- I would recommend summer lee. She has a KZbin channel and a free vanilla sock pattern that she made step by step tutorials for. Fun makes! My thoughts on your coat options: S 8797 is more classic looking and will stay in vogue longer. Boxy coats are in style right now but I think it's in today and out tomorrow. Also if you are pattern matching, which is a lot of work, you want a coat style that's going to be around for a while. My experience is if you want to be warm and long coat is awesome. I have a wool long coat and it is THE warmest! I also stopped buy fabric, though longer than a month, I found that at the end I didn't want to buy fabric, the urge to buy had passed. I really did want to focus on making up the fabulous fabric I already owned. I found it was just getting past the habit of looking at fabric and sales worked for me. To not buy I think one needs also stop also 'looking'.

Fun projects 🎉 Excited to see how they go! RE: the Atelier Jupe pattern, I made one of their dresses (Olivia) this autumn and I love love love it! However, there were a couple of spots where the English instructions were a bit unclear to me. Let it be known: I’m an adventurous beginner, so these instructions might have been clear to a more experienced sewist. But, I suspect it was a language issue because I speak Dutch (as a second language), and the Dutch-language instructions were much clearer to me. All of this is to say: if something about the ENG-language instructions doesn’t make sense to you, throw the Dutch or French instructions into Google Translate to check! (Or maybe you can read FR or NL, in which case you can skip Google Translate, haha) 😊 Have a super fun January!

That technical fabric is top notch among the adventure set! Yes make long johns from it. Do not wear a tank under it because then it won't work as intended. It is lightweight so that it packs small and light. It also keeps you from overheating when doing strenuous exercise but is designed to keep you warm when you are taking it easy. Great for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing or even hiking in the mountains. I am making a mock neck long sleeved T-shirt out of it for my hubby for mountain biking. Your purple plaid coating is gorgeous! It will give you a lift in the mid-winter blahs. I think the coat patterns should be different from what you've already made but still within your everyday lifestyle. Maybe the I am patterns Re which is a duffle style coat with a hood. Make it car coat length for your climate. Lots of fun ideas for 2025

I'm so terrible at using up scraps and the place that took fabric scraps in my small town closed down, so I've decided to make the Closet Core Pouf as it's a free pattern, I'd use it in my house, and you stuff it with scraps! I also relate a lot to the slowing down. The last half of 2024 I slowed way down and did a lot more thinking and prep before making anything, be it knit or sewn, and the projects all turned out so much better. I've realized that for sewing, I need to do it in smaller chunks so I don't get impatient and start to rush, giving myself a lot of time spread over a week or more if necessary for more complex projects. I can also relate as tracing and cutting are my least favorite parts of sewing. Happy New Year and thanks for the videos!
