I really like the sweater you’re wearing. I haven’t done color work but that would be a nice one to start with. I think sweater #28 is the best. Though I really liked the last pink one, you would have to really pay attention- but its drape is fantastic. But #28 has a very nice European, sophisticated vibe and those high necklines probably are well suited to you. I should be knitting here because it’s been so cold in the mountains, but I’ve hurriedly been sewing warm clothes since I’ve moved from warm winter climate to cold. Brrrrrrr.

I do have some sewing plans coming up, but we will see when they arrive! Yes, the Brightfeather would be a wonderful first colourwork sweater. I just love it. ❤️

I love that you are reclaiming yarn. I have been doing that and have used the Kitchener stitch to attach the rib. I did kit one row on the rib before doing it. Now I leave a row of stockinette row on the rib. Love all your makes!

Thank you! I did try to Kitchener stitch first, but I’m not very good at it. The three needle bind off felt easier.

I believe that rit dye has both acid dye for animal fibers and some other dye for plant fibers. This is so it will dye most fibers. My experience is that this dye for wool will set with heat and an acid like vinegar or citric acid. Then when you wash the wool after dyeing the other dye will rinse out. I prefer using an acid dye for wool as most of the dye is set into the fibers and less wasteful and the water can be clear. I thought if i used it again I could possibly save the excess dye bath water and use it to dye plant fiber like cotton with added salt or washing soda. Acid dye will likely be more saturated imo. I felt it took alot of rinsing to get the other dye to rinse out... Thank you for a lovely time!

I just finished the Eva Cardigan by Petite Knit. I used a merino/cashmere cream colored yarn recycled from an Abercrombie & Fitch thrifted sweater, combined with a flesh pink mohair from Colourmart. I did not really enjoy the feel of the mohair while I was working on it, but the sweater softened with blocking, and it’s wonderfully soft and cozy. I love your red cashmere project!

Hi Lisa, thanks for the videos on unraveling sweaters. I’ve heard other knitters mention it in videos, but didn’t know how they did it. You gave us good tips on what types of sweaters to buy. I’m not sure I will do it though because I have a pretty good yarn stash and need to get through some of that. I liked the Hailey Genser you mentioned and may put it in my queue for 2024. You could knit the Sari pattern and omit the eyelet. You could repeat the patterned row that’s above it. Happy 2024 and I can’t wait to see what you decide to knit up.

I wish I could get my color work to stretch! I have zero or very limited movement in yarn. People that look at the back cannot understand why because I have just as much slack at they do. Have any tips for color work? Maybe do a video😊

Hmm! Have you tried going up a needle size? If it’s in the round you can also knit it inside out, so the floats are on the outside. My socks were quite tight when I knit them on small circulars, but when I moved to magic loop it opened up.
