Күн бұрын

Sun Dragon is starting a knit-a-long in April 2022 for the Ranunculus sweater by Midori Hirose, and I'll be attempting to keep up with some videos that can assist the pattern. I will try not to reveal too much of the pattern, you can get your own copy from the pattern writer on Ravelry (about $6.50):
www.ravelry.co...
We love this pattern in the shop because it is so customizable, you can make it on any yarn from a lace weight to worsted weight, can alter the neckline, sleeve length, and torso length, and since it's designed to have enormous positive ease, you can do all of it on a size 10 needle, often without testing your gauge.
This video is the fifth in the series, laying out as clearly as I can the Right Lifted Increase specifically when done into a purl stitch, which may be challenging to do when following her instructions, set up for a knit stitch.
I'll be doing my best to build a playlist of videos that I've already make that could be helpful as well.
Consider subscribing, suggest videos you want to see below, and check out the Sun Dragon Sideshow, Liz and I are always making fun things. We will be talking a lot about the Ranunculus as well during this knit-a-long over there:
/ @sundragonsideshow
Let me know what else you would be interested in seeing in a video :)

Thank you just isn’t strong enough for all you have taught me! I’ve wanted to knit a Ranunculus for a long time, but never could figure out the sizing. You explained it so I understood. I’ve never attempted the tubular cast on, and again you have made it so clear an understandable! Now the RLI into a pearl stitch, easy peasy! You are an amazing teacher! Thank you! Now onto short rows, something else that always befuddles me, but I have a feel you’ll make it clear! 😍

I’m so grateful for these instructions.. RHI in the pattern states to insert from front to back from what I’m reading.

Hi Phyllis, I haven’t watched my own video in a bit, but looking at the pattern it states to insert the RHN (right hand needle) into the correct spot from back to front, though the drawing seems to indicate front to back. The most important thing is to get that strand on the LHN the correct orientation to knit it.

These videos are so helpful, I'm knitting my 2nd Ranunculus but I'm knitting the wider neckline and on the increase row I will end up with 180 stitches ! There's nothing in the pattern as far as I can see, so I'm feeling a little lost.
@SunDragonTipsTricks
@SunDragonTipsTricks Жыл бұрын
Hi Ann- by the wider neckline, do you mean the looser cast on? How many stitches do you have before the increase row?
@annemcginn1086
@annemcginn1086 11 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I cast on 90 stitches, but I was using the stretchy bind on this increased to 180! So I was floundering and re-read the pattern and realised my mistake.. I've abandoned it for the minute. I did follow all your instructions while knitting my first one and it worked out perfectly, @@SunDragonTipsTricks

THANK YOU for this video! I think that the confusing part for me was that the RL1 'includes' actually knitting that stitch, but it isn't spelled out... so it's KTBL, RL1, K1, K1 and repeat... but it's written as KTBL, RL1, K1 - which leaves out the actual knitting of the RL1 stitch, which is also not specified in the stitch abbreviation list for the pattern.
@SunDragonTipsTricks
@SunDragonTipsTricks Жыл бұрын
The confusion may come from deciphering the text- it is a RLI, rather than an RL1, so it is a Right Lifted Increase, rather than a Right Lift 1(one). The instructions for a Right Lifted Increase are on page 3 of my edition of the pattern ❤️

Round 8: (ktbl, rli,k1) apparently all in the first knit stitch. Yes?
@SunDragonTipsTricks
@SunDragonTipsTricks Жыл бұрын
No, you k1tbl in the first stitch, the RLI is into the stitch below the next stitch, then k1 in the next stitch. Your RLI will always be into a purl “bump” on this row.

Thank you I want to do it trying to figure yarn and size . Might just do a Dk weight but want to know what size for a U K 12 with about 2” positive ease just a small bit loose and what size needles. Also I do have #cilum Loli Stephen West but it’s Lace weight
@SunDragonTipsTricks
@SunDragonTipsTricks Жыл бұрын
This sweater looks amazing but is designed for a lot of positive ease- you’ll have to do the math and swatch to find out what will work for you. I have a video about general for you may want to check out, but again it’s something you will have to experiment with and calculate if you’re going to change needle sizes (and sometimes even if you don’t change needle sizes) and want a closer fit. ❤️

What would you do if you got to the end of Rib Round 8 and you had 58 stitches? Frog it?
@SunDragonTipsTricks
@SunDragonTipsTricks 2 жыл бұрын
How many stitches did you have before that round? No matter which collar you choose, you should be at 60 stitches at that point, and the increases take you to 90. If you were close to 60 before the increase round, you don’t need to frog. Conversely, you are so close to the beginning you’re not losing too much work by frogging. If you have 58 stitches after doing the increase round 8, I would be concerned you had done the crochet tubular cast on and had not done the initial yo, k1 row correctly, which doubles your number of stitches to 60. If that is the case, yes I would frog and start over. ❤️

@@SunDragonTipsTricks thank you! Since I’m not too far in, I’ll take your advice and frog. Nope, you totally caught a typo! I meant this to be the right lifted increase video, I copied settings (a cool KZbin function), changed the description, and didn’t catch that I didn’t change the whole title! Thanks for alerting me, I’ll edit that now. That’s why I usually don’t post these at work, too many distractions, but trying to get all the videos out! Thanks :)
