you should ask Arne and Carlos. Arne is Norwegian, his family going back to a thousand years in Norway. His knitting skills are mind blowing

I thought the same thing. I now use Arne's Norwegian continental technique instead of English throwing like my grandmother taught me, but have yet to master the purl. His form of picking is easily "reprogrammable" and super speedy.

I haven't heard them say anything about a thimble

I don't think they've talked about a knitting thimble, but have very helpful info about which yarn to carry where (above/below in the floats) as it matters for the final look of the item

Like you I am a continental knitter that uses my middle finger to push my working yarn. Lol! Thank you sharing such a clear graspable concept of using the LoRan Norwegian knitting thimble. I'm 2 rows into my attempt at following your video and already I see tension/yarn management improvement. I think I've got it. Thank you.

the thimble was designed to help people hold their yarn with their left hand (unless you are right handed) to be able to knit the Norwegian way. Norwegians don't use them for the most part. I am scandinavian and have never seen one of these until recently. So i've been researching!

I was given one of these thimbles as a gift a while back and wasn’t quite sure how to use it. I’m so glad you posted this. I’ll be giving mine a try now :-)

Have you done a video purling with a knitting thimble?
@marcstewart96304 жыл бұрын
Wow I can't wait to get mine

Thank you for sharing this Video. I bought a knitting thimble like yours to try get better tension in colour-work. I was not sure if I do it right. Your Video encouraged me and I will go on using it for stranded knitting.

I have one of those plastic knitting guides. It’s made by Prym (Germany). It works well... but it pinches my skin! Lol

What do you do with long floats? How do you catch them?
@bananapeaches63705 жыл бұрын
I put the video into slower speed and I think it will depend on whether you pick up the yarn from in front of or behind the other from the thimble...??.

so a person can only use a knitting thimble on your left hand. If not a continental knitter, the thimble is useless?

I need more help with exactly how to thread each of the yarns. It's too fast on this video.

Sorry all is very interesting but you knit too fast to teach and didn’t put the needles in front of the camera, you put them underneath the camera so I can’t see very well the thing, I only have a view from the top and that isn’t very helpful…

you can go in Settings in playback speed and adjust it for your convenience!
