The Zwartbles is a breed of domestic sheep originating in the Friesland region of the north Netherlands. There it was primarily used for the production of sheep milk as well as lamb and mutton. They were often kept alongside dairy cattle herds.

Thank you for telling me about this! I should really learn a bit more about the different types of sheep breeds that are used outside of the very common ones... so interesting.

Same! Knitting up these socks definitely requires more focus than the vanilla socks but every new color row is so rewarding. 💛

oh those socks are CUTE. Night Owl Fibers has a lovely brown, if you end up having to look online. So does Fiber Stash Fibers.

You pronounced Zwartbles correctly as they are a breed of sheep from the Netherlands! They were introduced to the UK in the 1990's, and their wool is valued by knitters for its beautiful colour and durability. I have a cardigan I made from John Arbon Exmoor Zwartbles yarn and I love it!

Oh wow that's so interesting, thank you for telling me! I need to find some yarn with a higher content of the Zwartbles, I'm really curious now what that would feel like on its own.

Hi, I love your content. There is another way to see, if the colors are good for color work, if there is enough contrast. You make a black&white photo of the yarn and if the “colors” are are looking good and there is enough contrast between them (different shades of grey) you’re good to go :)

enjoyed your video, NY looks exciting! Zwartbles are a breed of Freisan sheep, I have just completed the Felix pullover in Zwartbles yarn shown on my podcast. The radish socks look like fun !

Thank you! And thanks for educating me on what Zwartbles is, there are so many sheep breeds out there and it's interesting to learn about all the ones that are not so commonly used for wool from the big brands.
