Hi Hannah, great tutorial. My first stab at intarsia was a very complicated Christmas jumper! It was very difficult but I was so pleased with the final result. Can you give some advice? If the pattern is for example 10 sts red, 10 sts blue, 10 sts red, 10 sts blue, would you always use 4 different balls/bobbins of yarn, or would you ever knit across the intermittent sts and twisting the wool around each stitch? I hope that question makes sense! I have a feeling that might be a completely different technique! Thank you.

Hi! I’d definitely use separate bobbins or balls of yarn, if not the yarn is stretching across too many stitches so you’ll see tightening of the fabric across all the vertical stripes. There’ll be a much more flexible, free flowing fabric when you’ve finished if you use a full intarsia technique. Happy knitting 🧶

Brilliant advice, thank you. Also explains the tightening I had in the jumpers I knitted!
