I was unpleasant surprised when a male gay couple with a kid was a important part of this movie. Would be nice if this would have been made very clear in reviews or at the store where i bought it. This makes it a gay interest movie which i am not interested in watching. That is why after a while i just turned it off. It reminds me a bit of Battle Of The Sexes where one thinks it is a comedy about a male and female pro tennis player but it is a not, it is about a gay women who plays tennis and her lesbian issues..gay interest movie. I also want to mention Tideland here where a grown up retarded man and a young girl, a child, flirting with eachother both having their tongue hanging out of their mouth close doing some french kissing..so that is some borderline pedophile action with this movie being for all ages in many countries. Vast majority of people are hetero that is just how it is. When it is a gay interest movie it should be clearly mentioned. It is disgusting misleading audiences about it. It is clear that when it is labeled gay interest the movie will lose 95% of its audience so what it comes down to is that it is money related..we can thank capitalism. Also they pretend that it is normal that a male gay couple can adopt a little baby. There are groups of people that think it is normal but there are also people that think it is not and it should be forbidden. It is actually a controversial topic.Liberal politicians tries to normalize stuff like that. When they do the media will follow it is as simple as that. I myself are a rather progressive left person btw I knew for a long time Shyamalan was a bit of. It is clear now that he needs to get his head checked.

I don't really understand why you looked at the colors that way... they also represent the horsemen colours-- conquest was the white horse (leonard) - he's a teacher and the one trying to overtake the couple he's wearing white; war was the red horse (redman)- had assaulted him in a bar ie. Violence, he's wearing a red shirt; famine was the black horse (Adrienne) - chef she's wearing black; and plague was the pale horse (sabrina) - nurse, and she's wearing pale yellow.

To continue on that train of thought though I have never read the book ir seen the movie-- you could see that her being a chef and leaving her profession as essentially making her into famine and the same with the nurse leaving healthcare. Why the plagues they cause don't quite line up to these, I can honestly say I am not sure but probably is answered in the movie or book.

They aren’t horseman. The husband literally has a concussion and was primed by the religious woman with Christian talk. Which is why he made the four horseman connection. Which doesn’t make sense because the horseman is Conquest, War, Famine, and Death. Check any reading of the Horseman lore you will not see any of Healing, Nurturing, Guidance and Malice anywhere.

Redman is the twist. Redman attacked them in the bar completely unprovoked because that is the beginning of the story for all involved. The night in the bar was when the couple decided to become parents, which completed and solidified their family love. Also because of that night Andrew bought the gun which made the choice to sacrifice Erik possible. Without the gun Andrew would've had to kill Erik with his bare hands or a homemade weapon which he would've never been able to do. Finding out Redman is the attacker, first to die and the person that found/started the post on the forum is when we the audience realize destiny brought these people together through Redman and his actions made this all possible. Was Redman attacking them destiny and if he didn't attack them would the couple be the chosen people to decide the fate of mankind?

I noticed when andrew and Erick were arguing at the end, andrew was talking about humanity that “they’re monsters” while Erick saying they’re just scared. Erick really sounded like Jesus there which makes sense since both made a sacrifice. I dont know who andrew is supposed to be, maybe the devil but I found it very cool how in that moment they represented Christian deities and their arguments for humanity

Andrew is God of the old testament. Vengeance. We witnessed this wth Noah's ark and sodom and gommorah for example. Eric represented the new testament where Jesus sacrificed himself for humanity so we would not endure the same fate as those in the old testament. At least that's my take on it.

One detail I thought was interesting is when they were waiting to see Wen as a baby, when they’re outside the room, Andrew tells Eric that he can pray and he won’t make a comment. I believe this means that Eric at some-point had faith. Eric also sees the figure in the light and has the feeling of them telling the truth hinted at before it was confirmed at the end when he dies.

That's the issue and stigma when Shymalan makes a movie, and why many people don't like his movies. Everyone seem too focus on "what is the twist?" that they lose attention to the film, or watch his films mainly just for the twist. People are already trying to figure out what is the twist before seeing the movie. Also, a lot of people determine how good the film is based on twist, whether the whole film is good or bad. He has many good movies, it's just that they were watched the wrong way.

I didn't think the radio scene had to do with the apocalypse at all. I thought it was the aggressive parent taking the reigns as the empathetic parent for the first time. He acknowledged that his daughter turned the radio on because she thought it was okay to feel that way, then shut it off because she thought it bothered him. He turns it back on to tell her she's right; it's okay to still feel happy when you hear this song.

So I watched this last night and honestly left pretty underwhelmed. Like the entire time nothing seemed to shock me or move me. It was kind of given that they were the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypses from the trailer and the premise was pretty simple. I guess nothing really grabbed my attention and I left with a feeling of "that can't really be it?". Am I the only one who felt that way? Same. It was pretty much what the trailer showed. I thought they would use the girls first words about the grasshoppers as foreshadowing "I'm not going to hurt you just learn about you" but they didn't do much with it from what I can tell. Shirt colors for four horsemen symbology was pretty basic. The actors did a good job and the dialogue was a bit better than most shyamalan movies so maybe he took a step back from that.

For some reason, I have not read anyone making this connection yet. What if each of the Horsemen are connected to the disaster that proceeded their death? The earthquake started before Malice's (Redmond as the assailant) death. Earthquakes to represent the aggression of nature. After his death, the next plague started: tsunami/flood. This could relate to water being a necessity for human existence, being necessary for food and existence and thus nourishment (Adriane as the chef). The virus is inextricably linked to healthcare and therefore healing (Sabrina as the nurse). This one is more of a stretch: the planes use all kinds of guidance systems, so crashing could be because of a lack of guidance (Leonard as the teacher). After the four horsemen, it is time for the final judgment, which means the second coming of Christ. Christ's second coming comes after the rise of the Antichrist (CCC 675). Fire (caused by lightning) inaugurated the coming of the Antichrist. That chapter could only be ended by the second coming of Christ, who had died for humanity's sins. Eric did the exact same and could end the chapter and thus avert the end of humanity. (Eric probably saw Jesus before Redmond's death. Jesus was standing with the Horsemen, as Jesus is the 5th Horseman. For Eric, this both confirmed the story being told and foreshadowed his own role in it) Each of their deaths didn't start a new chapter, it ended one before the next one could begin. Each plague's chapter was ended by someone representing the opposite: war/peace or repetence (What if Redmond wasn't Malice, but Peace, after having gone through the prison system and becoming, as he said, a 'different person'); famine/nurturing; death/healing; conquest/guidance and the Antichrist/Christ.

Would have wanted to know more about the characters playing and why/how these 4 people became so dedicated to their cause. For the 4 horsemen, I think the visions haunt them. As the movie said a few times - the screams of the future victims forced them to be dedicated in the hopes that the disasters can be averted.

The twist was that the intruders were the 4 horseman. M Night’s work is very complex and thought provoking. With all his films, the delivery and or editing is what ultimately lowers his audience score. My honest opinion is that his movies should be longer. The content of Old, the Happening, Signs, the Village is retrospective and timeless. Please support him, he’s one of a kind! I can’t wait to see this.

I think the reason for using a gay family was tied to the original novel ending. That ending was very ambiguous. But if you decide the couple chose to live was because the “ Apocalypse was real but they didn’t care for humanity. Just for themselves “ . As they would be the only 2 survivors. Humanity would had end with them . This idea won’t work on the movie scenario.

The colors also reflected the colors of the horses the Horsemen rode: White for Conquest, Red for War, Black for Pestilence and/or Famine, and Pale (this is said to be either Pale Yellow or Pale Green) (from 'pallor') for Death. The specific Horsemen may not line up with their color associations but the colors are all there. The one you said is blue is more of a faded black or maybe a navyish blue but either way it's meant to represent Pestilence's/Famine's horse. Though the associations you have obviously work as well, so it definitely looks like the colors all have dual meanings as well.

I agree. No twist was the twist. I thought at least the two women and Leonard were being manipulated. I always expected one of the dads would kill the other for their daughter's sake. I thought after that happened the survivor would find out is was all for nothing. I was wrong. I thought it was a good film. Great video! I liked this movie ALOT! Dave Bautista has a stand out performance and I rewatched it right away(I 1st saw it when I bought the Dvd). I thought it was definitely the best role of Bautista's career and came away after the 1st watch saying that THIS IS the role that redefines the perception of him being a "muscle head who can act" to a real actor that just happens to have the physique Dave has. I thought "Now Bautista will get the respect he deserves in the acting community, especially from those who doubted him". And I also thought of his role as Sapper in "Blade Runner 2049" in comparison to this role as the closest thing to this he has done at this caliber. The movie as a whole I absolutely lived too. As well as my wife.

It was Redmans truck. I wanted it to be a dark government Aluen test for people who are good vs evil. A choice by Aliens who return every century to save the planet. In my opinion the ending was that they were indeed just some cultist. When the cook lady talked about her son, she said that her vision was that he died burnt alive in her arms. But there is no scenario possible that could happen. She either dies by one of the four, or if somebody sacrificed them selves they would never burn in the first place. So the vision was untrue.

Nah, prophetic dreams according to most " clairvoyants" over the eras can always happen differently, but as the observer, you actively participate in the vision, like...a dream. My mystery Brain thought the same thing you did, but I actually researched some occultism awhile back and it's simply projection of self into future events, some claim to have stood beside their own bodies and watched themselves pass on. Only to be very wrong on the circumstances when they actually pass on...usually.
