My build goes normal landing phase dynamo stuff (Extra charge, close quarters, high velocity, sprint boots, extra stamina, monster rounds, mystic burst). Then I rush Quicksilver reload and then inhibitor. After that I go gun or spirit items depending on what is needed.

About the map portraits switching places: I don't think that's what's happening. I think what's actually going on is the game has a weird system where it wants to avoid overlapping portraits, presumably for better clarity, so when two characters are very close together they kinda spin around a center pivot point because the map shows them a bit further away from each other than they actually are
